The perfect location if you're driving and visiting both The Forbidden Corner and York. Comfortable spacious room, off-street parking, and a nice bar/restaurant in a quiet village. Even after paying for petrol for the drive to/from York and paying for parking at the ASDA at Layerthorpe (£7.62 for the whole day, online booking), you'll still be way ahead compared to York hotel prices and have a nice place to come back to.

Our room was huge, with a very comfortable bed, stunning views, and a nice big bathroom. The grounds are exquisite, and the forest walk was lovely. We loved everything about our stay. The best part about staying at Crathorne Hall though is the magical staff. Martin and Gloria made us feel like family, and their personal attention was the difference that made the difference. It was an amazing experience. The hotel itself is extremely comfortable and cozy, the spa is great and most notably, the staff is amazing and beyond kindness (particular thanks to Thea and her amazing French!).

The property was absolutely superb. Very elegant, quality fittings and well furnished with beautiful linen and towels. I loved the location and how organised, beautiful and well kept the entire property was. I was extremely impressed. I want to return and try a different room. The cottage was extremely well equipped and ideal for our three night stay while visiting family nearby. It was extremely clean throughout with comfy beds and bedding. The parking was secure and private which was a bonus. Our host Clare was extremely helpful and attentive and made us feel at home. We especially appreciated the welcome pack on our arrival. We will definitely be returning in the near future.
