We had an exceptional stay here and couldn't recommend it enough. We loved the old building and decor and the family history behind it. Maki was the best host, really friendly and helped make our stay a memorable one. This is a truly authentic Japanese experience and made our Japan trip a special one. The food was outstanding and prepared by Maki's mother. We loved that it was all locally sourced, fresh ingredients and all of this was explained to us by Maki, whose hospitality was some of the best we have encountered. Don't miss out on this special gem. When you book you have the whole place to yourself. We feel very lucky to have stayed here.

Our room has twin beds, two sofas and loads of comics and toys for family stay. There are many hiking spots but unfortunately for us, sudden cold weather hits 😭, we will definitely stay here again, my best hostel so far😍!

Each meal is special, with many local and seasonal ingredients. This gives a proper traditional Japanese meal experience in my opinion, with plenty different textures and tastes. The scenery is breathtaking, with Mt. Ontake. There are free drinks available in the lounge, and the onsen is really big, with two outside baths. The staff is really nice and can speak decent english.
