The room was a reasonable size and clean and in good decorative order. The bed was outstanding probably the largest and best we have ever slept in. A good thick mattress with a mattress topper on top so firm support with a soft top - just what you want after a day out walking. Good sturdy bed base so no creaking. We loved the breakfast, start with the 'continental' and then move on to the 'Full English' - perfect start for a day out. We also ate in the evening and there is a reasonable selection of choices on the menu. The homemade pies are excellent and the portions are large. The hotel has been tastefully decorated mixing modern colours and lighting with older features which all fit together well. Plenty of free parking opposite the hotel. Friendly and helpful host made the stay very enjoyable. Great location for the Peak District with walks direct from the hotel and many more ambitious walks and places to visit are available within short distances.

Simple but beautifully decorated and very clean. Very friendly and helpful staff. Having a fridge is excellent. The staff over the road at Ye olde Cheshire cheese where we got discounted breakfast were also great.

    This was my second stay at Little John. Once again a great holiday. Staff very friendly, really great guys. I had a different room this time but it was also spacious and clean. The hotel is in an ideal location for exploring the Peak District. I will definitely be back. Thanks!

    Property was in a quiet location on edge of village, plenty of local facilities and rail station. Accommodation was perfect for a family break and was well equipped and comfortable for our stay. Very well decorated and nice personal touch with welcome hamper.

    Breakfast was delicious. Rooms were very clean and well decorated. We stayed two nights and were visiting the area for a friends wedding. There were lots of people there on walking holidays. The accommodation was fit for all and the staff were amazing.
