We had a wonderful stay at Kawayu Midoriya. It was our pit stop after doing the long Kumano Kodo hike from near chikatsayu to Hongu Taisha. The hotel was clean and well located, the room was clean, modern and comfortable (we stayed in western style room), the staff at reception and service were exceptional. The outdoor onsen is breathtaking. Ask for a room with the view of the river! We would stay here again.

Both the dinner and the breakfast served by Ashita No Mori were some of the best we ate during a three week stay in Japan. Well worth ordering these meals if you are staying. Accommodation was close to the bus stop too.

Sanae was an amazing host. We were in quite some trouble getting to the accommodation due to the bus line who didn’t drive at the evening. Sanae arranged a cap for us and comforted us. The kitchen was more than equiped and the possibility to buy a snack or drink for a small price really made our day. We met some amazing people and slept like a baby. The walls are quite thin, but everyone who has to hike has to go to sleep pretty early, so we didn’t experience any trouble. Thank you for the amazing stay and making us feel welcome

After a big day of hiking we were over the moon with the location, the friendly staff as well as the 3 private onsens at this accomodation. The free rice at night and rice pudding in the morning was delicious. The common room was comfortable and had everything we needed (the drip coffee was a bonus!) We were really happy with the private room and the views. We would definitely recommend this as a place to stay.

Authenticity of the accommodation. You can feel the local lifestyle. The host is super friendly and patient. When we meet him in the restaurant, he leads the way and helps us to bring luggages to the accommodation. He explains the facilities clearly to us in English!! Amazing coz we cant meet any locals who can speak good English!! He also prepares some snacks for our enjoyment. Next morning at 05:50, he came in and left us two boxes of rice for our breakfast. He is so warm as a host. I will highly recommend you to stay here if u self drive.

This has been one of our favourite accommodations during our Japan trip. The guesthouse has a well-equipped kitchen and large dinning/social area. Coffee, tea, spices are provided. It is close to the bus-stop, public onsen and the hotsprings. All the areas at the guesthouse are very clean. The property contacted us with the option to order bentobox for dinner. When we arrived at the guesthouse we noted that there are noodles, soup etc sold at the property. With the well-equipped kitchen preparing a meal would be quick and easy.

Truly a lovely place to stay. I wanted to experience the Senninburo in winter, and had a fabulous time...the guesthouse is directly opposite the outdoor winter onsen. The in-house food was great (if not strictly Japanese), the family hosts were wonderful with recommendations for a Kumano Kodo hike on my free day, and the shared toilets and baths fabulous. The two in-house onsen are wonderful and privately used. One of my favorite places on a trip where I spent 20-times as much on more "exclusive" accommodation. Worth the journey.
