I had a wonderful stay at House Active. I stayed for two nights, and although it's located in a small town, that was exactly what I was looking for—a calm and relaxing escape. And that’s exactly what I got. The staff were all lovely, and the owner, Ryodai, was incredibly kind and welcoming. On my first day, I joined the kayak tour with Ryodai and two other guests. I highly recommend it if you enjoy kayaking or being outdoors—it was such a fun and beautiful experience paddling out into the sea from a nearby beach. After the tour, Ryodai even took me to the local supermarket, where I picked up the cheapest (and surprisingly delicious) bento box I’ve ever had! I also needed help with a parcel during my stay, and Ryodai went above and beyond to assist me. I truly can’t recommend this place enough if you're looking for a peaceful stay near the coast with genuinely kind people. Also Ryodai speaks amazing english.

This is the best hotel I've been until now in Japan (out of 5)! It is affordable, everything you need is in the room, the employees were very polite, there were a huge breakfast included with very nice ladies making it, the bed was very comfortable and you can controle the temperature. It was also a very calm neigborhood, so I've not heard anything from outside or other residents there!

Really good for a solo traveller who needs more privacy and space to rearrange the luggage. It was only a few minutes to get to the place from the train station. If you'd like to go to the Cat Island, then this is also perfect as the Port Terminal is about 15 min walking.

    The hotel was fairly close to the station. We had to walk for only 5 minutes from the nearest bus stop. My room was spacious even though it had a single mattress on tatami floor. The facility had 24x7 hot water and the air conditioning kept me warm throughout my stay. The proprietors were super kind to drop us at the train station on a rainy day. Also, she dropped us at the ferry to Tashirojima island because we would’ve missed it if we had taken the bus!

    We checked in at 10 p.m., but the owner still stayed at the counter to discuss our options for travelling to Ayukawa port the next morning and offer us options for luggage delivery to our next location. He even offered us a ride to the train station the next morning when he already had another ride scheduled. The room had lots of space and facilities and was clean. Thank you so much!

    The two people running this were lovely 💕 I had a great stay. Great super market nearby, which had good quality products to eat in the evening. Also, a short morning walk to visit Cat Island in the morning and then I visited the Manga Musuem. The room itself was clean, large and Japanese style, which I enjoyed. One of my favorite stays in 30 days of being in Japan.

    We booked to stay one night while visiting friends in Miyagi and it was a lovely home-from-home. The common area was a nice cosy place to relax in and the room was warm and comfortable. We didn't have time during this trip for any of the other activities on offer (paddle boarding looks fun!) so hopefully we'll be back soon!

    The food was excellent! I had dinner at the hotel's restaurants both nights and the breakfast was super! Room and bed were great, very spacious and comfy. Service was always prompt and friendly. Will absolutely stay again!

    We had an amazing experience at TAMA Hotel during our visit to Cat Island. The owner's kindness and helpfulness, including free transportation to the ferry terminal and train station, made our stay truly memorable. The spacious, clean room with high-tech Japanese toilets was perfect. And the opportunity to spend time with the owner's cats next door was a highlight. Highly recommend TAMA Hotel.
