Orchid tree is exceptionally beautiful, totally solar powered with a beautiful pool, hot tub and landscaping, a large lanai for relaxing and the room is truly large with lounge able furniture , pristine clean. Many places we’ve stayed give you pictures that don’t really represent the place when you arrive. However orchid tree is wonderful as are the hosts, both friendly and responsive ! Breakfast was just fine with fresh fruit, yogurt, granola and a good selection of Juices , breads, cream cheese, etc as well as freshly ground coffee. (Plenty for us but if you are an egg type there’s always places in town). But the lanai, the waves crashing, the superb coffee, we didn’t need more!

Amazing place run by lovely people. Owners have poured their heart and soul into this property. So much attention to detail. So spacious; loved all the timber and the handcrafting and decorating, the koi fishpond under the entry floor; each room has a different theme. Super comfy bed, and huge bathroom. Massive kitchen and loungeroom on each floor, with everything you need in a kitchen. They even have some snorkel gear you can borrow, which we did. Stunning views from the lanai and lounge area, and it's an easy drive from the town. I highly recommend this place and I would come back again. It really is 10/10.

Beautifully recently updated former oldest hotel in Hilo. Great value, superb customer service, spare but very nicely minimally decorated king room with local woodwork and wall art, gorgeous entryway and lobby area, free coffee and tea 24/7, beautiful pool. Yes, some airport noise and parking on street or in free lot around the corner. But we will definitely stay here again when we return to Hilo in 2027.

It was an excellent room. We had the king with private bathroom. Small problem getting the tv working but it was settled quickly. The staff was very helpful. Has a full kitchen and dining area that we did not know about that was a big plus. We would be happy to stay there again next time.

    Everything! This is truly the best equipped accomodation on the planet. They have thought of everything one may need, from a Thermos mug to various kinds of sunscreen. The house is gorgeously set up and the beds are so comfortable. We were very, very lucky to get to stay here. Thank you so much!

    Host greeted me at the entry and gave me a full tour of the accommodations. Complete privacy throughout the stay. Room stocked with lots of complimentary amenities, such as bottled waters (both room temp and cold), macadamia nuts, fresh fruit, Keurig pods, bathroom necessities, clothing steamer, etc. Check out process was seamless.

    Beautiful accommodations! A great breakfast of fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal and bread, along with coffee, tea and juice. Very comfortable room, with lovely furnishings and accents, opening onto a deck, hot tub and pool. A short walk to surfing beach. Would highly recommend when staying in the Hilo area.

    We were on a budget which is difficult in Hawaii but this property helped us sleep five comfortably. Very friendly staff at check in. Accommodations were modest but so is the price so that’s ok.

    The location was perfect, the accommodations was extraordinary immaculate, the owners Kenji and Michelle was very professional, was always in contact with us, made us feel at home. The owner Kenji also made time out of his busy schedule to watch our daughters canoe team Manu O Ke Kai race, it was great to see the owner come out for support.
