Outside doesn't look like the inside so we thought we were lost despite being literally outside the front door so trust your nav...you're there. We arrived late so, our fault not theirs. Hosts are wonderful and helpful, secure parking right outside your door and the chalets look brand new and are very comfortable. A convenient stroll to everything in this beautiful town. Breakfast was delicious.

Unfortunately, we stayed only one night, but this place is just great and the hosts could not have been more helpful, the communication was excellent and the coffee was the best ever. This small hotel is not only new (opened three years ago) but also perfectly maintained and super clean. Tucked in a quiet and safe corner, in a short walking distance to a shopping mall (2 mins away), taxis and ATMs, the hotel is also close to the city centre, so we even walked downtown (15 mins) and back in the evening. The beds meet the standards of a four-star hotel, so you can sleep comfortably after chilling in bed watching Netflix and resting before climbing Chimborazo.

Apart from being a beautiful historic building with loads of spaces to chill and chat or spend time alone, place to work, comfortable beds, great breakfast…all of the amazing facilities… apart from that, the owners are a beautiful family who greet and treat everyone like friends and family. You feel so at home and the owners will do everything to make your stay comfortable, from ordering taxis to giving tourist advice and local restaurant recommendations. Mostly, just the warm smile you’re met with every day makes the difference! <3 10/10 recommend staying here. The highlight might be the super spacious and comfortable beds. They feel like luxury at a backpacker price!

Guests at the accommodation will be able to enjoy activities in and around Alausí, like hiking. My only regret about visiting Alausi was not staying longer. I first came to hike the Nariz del Diablo which I highly recommend if you want spectacular views, but would have stayed for the small town, the food, the people and the Community Hostel. Don Marco was nothing but welcoming, making me feel right at home, in this beautiful property he has. The rooms were spacious and the breakfast really good. If you have time you can even sit down and chat with him around a cup of tea and a couple cookies. While there I suggest to go eat at La estacion del tren, you might even run into Don Marco eating lunch there. Everyone that I met took the time to chat with me. It is truly the best experience I’ve had so far in Ecuador!

Decorated with wooden gabled roofs, rooms at Chimborazo Lodge offer mountain views. Twin Room have shared bathroom facilities and Double Room with Mountain View has private bathroom. Very warm room, super cozy blankets and beds, everything clean, hot water and the alpacas!!! They sometimes let you touch them but you have to be real slow. The food was very nice, the main room is just so interesting and the view of the mountain is unbeatable. On clear nights you can see the milky way.
