Hostel John Mang ゲストハウス ジョン situa-se em Tosa, a 22 km de Daizen-ji Temple e a 22 km de Nishihama Park. Mary and her husband Kai were wonderful hosts – so nice, warm, and welcoming. They helped us find a wonderful local izakaya in the middle of the night, and Mary took such caring attention of us when we didn’t feel well. We also saw how Kai and Mary help all their visitors and guests, booking stations along the pilgrimage and really taking care of everyone like family members. They are so joyful and kind that you forget you’ve only known them for a few hours. The place itself is super clean, nice, practical, and very comfortable. She even offers some food for free, which was such a thoughtful touch. The location is excellent – just off the town of Tosa near Kochi – making everything easily accessible: temples, nature, whale watching, marine activities, and the city of Kochi. We truly recommend this homely guest house with its wonderful atmosphere, amenities, and above all, its amazing owners and personnel.

Very unique mountain top location in traditional Japanese home, but made very comfortable with everything needed for a cozy and relaxing stay. Would highly recommend if looking for an experience off the beaten path. We especially enjoyed warming up in the fire pit, while BBQing a delicious meal and enjoying the relaxing and awesome views from the mountains.
