Located in the sacred Koyasan area, Saizenin offers simple accommodation surrounded by mountains and many temples. Originally developed as a lodging for the temples’ pilgrims, it conducts Buddhist services every morning that guests can attend. Nankai Koyasan Train Station is a 15-minute drive away. Everything was beautiful and I love to take the budist ceremony with the monks. This place is beautiful and quiet just what I was looking for after long trip. The staff was very nice and kind.
Koyasan
A 1000 year-old Buddhist temple, Shukubo Koya-san Eko-in offers Japanese-style accommodation, a beautiful garden and free WiFi. Guests are free to attend Buddhist morning services, the Goma fire ritual and meditation. We were curious about the vegetarian food that was offered in this place, and it was a nice pleasant surprise. The rooms were big, compared to other places where we stayed in Japan, and they had heaters available, to cope with the cold. This place was right on the main street of the town, so its location is very convenient to get around town.

Our stay at the retreat house was absolutely wonderful! Atsuki and his family are incredible hosts and did everything to make our stay comfortable. The meditation sessions in the morning were amazing, Atsuki explained everything so well for beginners. The hosts are so warm and welcoming, making our stay in Koyasan our most memorable one in Japan!
The house is beautifully done, stunning meditation room, kitchen with coffee and tea and beautiful bedrooms. The house is well located and quiet. I absolutely recommend staying here :)

Nonagase guest house is exquisite. From the moment we arrived everything was perfect. The accommodation itself is incredible, a historic residence that has been very beautifully restored in the Japanese style. What made our stay truly special though was Hitomi, the manager of the guest house. Her warm, friendly welcome made us feel at home straight away. Hitomi organised luggage transfer for our next day of hiking so we didn't have to carry our big backpacks. We had the most wonderful 6 course dinner that night where Hitomi carefully explained all the local produce and the dishes being served. Thank you Hitomi, you made our stay in Chikatsuyu so very memorable, it will be one of the highlights of our Japan trip, we feel lucky to have been able to stay with you 😊 Also important to know... Nonagase guest house has a really nice beer garden out the back where you can enjoy local craft beers and produce in a very relaxed atmosphere 😊

Shingu
Accommodation is fitted with air conditioning, a fully equipped kitchen, a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with bidet, slippers and a hair dryer. A fridge and kettle are also provided. At the guest house, all units have bed linen and towels. Our stay at Temple Hotel was unforgettable, blending smooth check-in with authentic Japanese hospitality. The kind monk welcomed us with a tour of his family’s temple grounds, shared local dining tips (his izakaya recommendation was excellent), and generously offered complimentary sake, shochu, and beer, complete with a gas stove for warming drinks. He even guided us in setting up our futon beds. The temple opened at 6am, and we were invited to join his 7am prayer service and participate in rituals like sutra copying. Before we left, he gifted us a meaningful Wagen Aigo souvenir and sent us off with blessings. This stay was a genuine experience of Japanese culture—highly recommended.

What a fantastic experience to stay at a home away from home. The hosts were very welcoming and accommodating since we wanted our family to be together in one place. They also explained the highlights of Koyasan and we highly recommend Tommy guest house due to the warmth of the hosts, the cleanliness of the accommodation and the delicious breakfast that is homemade especially the tomato salad and the carrot cake. Thank you for baking our stay so special 😊
The accommodation was a self-sufficient unit with everything you need inside. I booked a total of 7 rooms for 22 people. Everyone loved our 8nights stay and we cant wait to be back to visit Shirahama again.
Wonderful stay in beautiful traditional and perfectly clean, big and new accomodation. Breakfast was very tasty and the owner was extremely helpful and kind and speaks perfectly english. Very good price and perfect location, recommended!
It was very pleasant to stay at Surf Imin G-Sun. The room was very organized and clean. There is a charger, a lamp and a little fan for every bed. The quality of the accomodation/price ratio is very great. Takaji, the owner was fun and nice. We enjoyed our stay even if it was rainy. The beach, which is very close, is very fun and beautiful. There was a lot of people surfing there. Don’t hesitate to book, you will not regret it!
Tommy is a great host! The room was very clean, bigger than japsn standards and had everything you need on vacation. Tommy gave us a lot of useful info so that we managed to attened the fire cerimony and the chanting cerimony all for free. If i ever go back to Koyasan, I'll book this accomodation again.
Very clean and fairly new/well maintained accomodation. I have been to several shared bath accomodations and some have the weirdest setup that don't make sense. This place just does it. Bed is comfy and pillow has just the right height. There's proper hangers in the shower room, bins at the right spots, everything just makes sense so you'll be feeling like staying in a home instead of a hostel. Friendly and very helpful staffs to ease you through your stay and travel around the area.
The service of the hotel is excellent. Best of the best. Warm-welcomed. There are some special points I must mention about. First, it treats me so well that they help me to book a restaurant as it is public holidays in Japan during the day I have stayed. Second, they drive me to the restaurant where I would have a decent dinner. Besides, they are patience that guide me to the bus stop by themselves. Thank you so much! ありがとございます!
Authentic Japanese accommodation. Very clean and beds were comfortable. Make sure you include dinner and breakfast in your stay. The food was superb and the host took real pride in preparing it for us. The take away lunch was just what we needed on the hike. We loved the whole experience!
A timeless and enchanting setting : beyond the accommodations and the warm welcome, the experience is worth the journey to Koyasan. Nothing beats the morning service for a complete stay. Traditional dinner and breakfast.
Great location, surrounded by many little cafes and eateries around! It was the ideal place to stay to explore Shingu for a day. Coin laundries are comparatively advanced compared to what we experienced in our other Japan accommodations. Machines could wash + dry a huge load of our clothes within 40mins. Terrific after our long days of hiking.
