Unfortunately I didnt go to the trip had an accident and broken foot. My friends did travel. I had to pay 140 euros because the booking didnt cancel my reservation. Very upset about this. The hotel should have mean to avoid this to happen.

Zaventem is just the airport.
Zaventem is just the airport. For me, it was ideal that the hotel was right in front of the airport since I needed to catch a flight the next morning very early. We were also a rather large group of 7 people. Thus, we saved some good money in transportation. If you are planning to stay just one night since you are in transit, this is a good option.

I travel here for work on a regular basis. There is not a lot here. Its just a dormitory zone for airport hotels. There is a small town, its very local, but there are restaurants including a good Italian and of course a Friterie !

Machelen has a tired and dejected air about it.
Machelen has a tired and dejected air about it. There looks like some work to improve its look may have been started but definitely work in progress. We wandered around the centre of the town and most of the shops and restaurants are closed. Found a couple of places open. The most memorable part of our stay is the constant noise from aircraft taking off from Brussels airport every few minutes drowning out any chance of conversation. I'm not surprised that restaurants are closed! It's very unlikely that we will want to stay again in Machelen.

Vilvoorde is a beautiful city.
Vilvoorde is a beautiful city. I love to go for walks and just about walked everywhere. There are many parks, rivers, creeks, a canal, and many paths to walk on. Vilvoorde has done a magnificent job at keeping the area very green and walkable.
