This has been our best stay in North America to date. Claude is a very attentive host who pays attention to fine details, not just the basics that you expect to see. The room, though a little smaller than we are used to, was comfortable and well appointed, and there were multiple ‘common areas’ to read, relax, talk with other guests etc, each well furnished and decorated (so the size of the bedroom did not matter). The hospitality was excellent, including a superb breakfast each morning (where presentation was just as important as the high quality of the food). I am not a dog lover, and was somewhat apprehensive, but i have to say that Buddy was also an excellent ‘host’ - a friendly greeting, but not overexuberant; constantly there, but not obtrusive or threatening in any way. I / we thoroughly recommend this place. A good place for the end of exploring Cote Nord, and then catching the ferry to Matane. It also really helped us (as Australians with no French speaking skills), that Claude was multilingual (Merci, Claude).

Hotel Motel Belle Plage overlooks St. Lawrence Bay, just 2 minutes' walk from the local ferry. It boasts a restaurant which specializes in fish and seafood. Location was excellent, beds were comfortable, the room clean. Great view of the St Lawrence River from our patio. The restaurant was excellent, if a bit pricey
