Wawa (1.8 miles from Wawa Airport)
Set in Wawa in the Ontario region and Sandy Beach reachable within 6.1 km, High Falls Motel & Cabins offers accommodation with free WiFi, BBQ facilities, a garden and free private parking. We stayed in one of the motel rooms, it looks rustic but the interior is tastefully updated. The room is spacious with high ceilings and spotlessly clean, even comes with a kitchenette and a small closet. Wi-Fi is good and stable. Large TV. The sounds the heater makes kind of sounds like rain falling on the roof. It was one of the most comfortable stays we've had on our road trip, so much so we decided to stay and relax for an additional 2 hours in the morning instead of getting right back on the road.

Perfect place to stay along the Trans-Canada Highway. Close to Lake Super Provencial Park. Newly renovated, clean and very comfortable. Super friendly owner! Great restaurant just across the street.
It was smaller than I expected, but very friendly and quaint, and easy to navigate. I had a great time looking through the thrift shop and met wonderful people at the roadside restaurant called Krazy Fries. Food was great too! I was able to pick up all the supplies I needed for my trip, and had dinner at the sub shop on my last night.
The Lakeview Hotel was not as advertised and although we had prepaid for a double room...we did not feel comfortable staying there and went elsewhere. the reception area was cluttered and disorganized; the hall carpet was old and worn and looked dirty; there were several open doors on the floor into rooms full of junk; the parking lot was rutted and haphazard; and in general the hotel looked dingy and smelled musty. The front of the hotel was old and dirty and it looks like the picture on their website was photo-shopped. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone,
Just passing through on a roundtrip, so not much to say.- nothing much going on...ran into some bizarre people. Not sure why there aren't more choices for hotels. We had a real doozy...glad we didn't have to stay a second night.
Unfortunately it rained during our visit; however we did visit some interesting sites. Highly recommend the scenic falls. The drive through blueberry fields enabled uz to see a black bear feeding and flocks of sanD cranes Great restaurant across street from motel. Bison steak delicious!
Kinniwabi Pines Restaurant. Not to miss. Excellent food and "upscale" for this part of the world. But you don't have to get dressed up! Young's General Store Kabenung Lake (out 17 beyond Wawa) for kayaking and beauty. Naturally Superior Adventures. Book a trip. Lake Superior Provincial Park: heaven on earth. Camp at Rabbit Blanket.
Wawa was the top of our trip and we were surprised that despite the small population (3000 people), it is a busy town. We loved the Kinniwabi Pines restaurant near by HWY 17 (a must experience, family run, may need a reservation for a larger group), we enjoyed fresh trout and an Bison stake (delicious!). Our neighbours caught a glimpse of the Northern lights (early morning), and told us about the Sandy beach walks and fantastic nearby trails with falls! For us, this gateway to the North, a nice community, offers fresh air, splendid view of the Trans-Canada Highway, and a sense of the vast "Canadian Spirit" all around! You can also venture from there, 200Km to next town : White River, the home town of the "Winnie the Pooh" bear (yes, Winnie was purchased by Lieutenant Harry Colebourn after WWI and donated to the London (British) zoo all the way from Canada, where the writer (A.A. Milne) got inspired to write the children's book).
