Opened in early 2013 after a complete renovation, Hotel Lux in Emmenbrücke is just 6 km from Lucerne. It offers free WiFi and free parking. The Lux was a bit heaven after a long frustrating bus trip. Clean, comfortable with clear instruction given on how to access the apartment after hours when our bus was cancelled then delayed. The breakfast was excellent and the staff friendly, informative and efficient. She was able to book us another night without fuss. There was a bus stop about 200m away which took us straight into the heart of Lucerne which ran every 7 minutes or so and was free as we had booked accommodation in Lucerne.

Located in Rothenburg, just a 15-minute drive from Lucerne, Hotel & Restaurant Chärnsmatt has a large garden, an indoor children´s play area and a playground that features a 1.4 km-miniature railway. It was a big spacious room. Breakfast had nice options.
