Boasting a garden, terrace and views of mountain, Shangri-La Youran Valley Inn is situated in Shangri-La, 700 metres from Guishan Park. This has to be the best place to stay in the entire city. For one thing, its one of the few original wooden hotels to survive the fires. Most other places are modern constructions, but here you're staying in the real deal. The hotel is also located just on the edge of the old town, which is a real scrum. Its great to be close to the action but able to remove yourself from it. And then there's the hosts, who are *amazing*. So kind, generous, helpful. Excellent English. They plied me with snacks, helped me do laundry, and gave me lots of ideas and advice. The hot water was very hot, the internet was fast, the bed was comfortable. If you're looking for an friendly place to stay that isn't a gigantic chain-style hotel, this is the spot for you.

Went for one night, ended up with 3 nights. Can highly recommend staying with this Korean/Chinese family. The food is amazing and everyone working is so friendly! If one day I get the chance to return to Shangri-la, I'll definitely stay here again.

The homestay is in a good area, easily accessible by didi, bike etc. Only a short walk to old town and surrounded by lots of shops, food and everything you need. It is a very social and inviting environment with a really nice, big common area with some games, a piano and bar area. We spent a lot of time talking and hanging out with the owner and other guests. Everyone was so fun! When we were there, there was also a beautiful dog who we loved! The room is spacious, has comfy beds and the paintings on the wall were very cute. Thank you and see you again another time :)
