We recently spent two magical days and an overnight at Mama Yeya’s in San Cipriano - an enriching experience that our daughter shared with us. The proprietors, Dona Amalia and Don Victor, were gracious hosts, and Dona Amalia’s gourmet Pacific Coast cuisine was delectable and beautifully presented (we could hardly wait for our next meal)! The accommodations were well-appointed and tastefully decorated, and the bedding was very comfortable. Their son served as our guide for a hiking adventure to several waterfalls, followed by an inner-tube glide down a gentle and crystal clear river, where we were pleasantly surprised to encounter two sloths up close. It was an unforgettable experience at very good value. It was also very fun getting in to San Cipriano via a “Moto-Brujita” - a innovative form of transportation that makes use of an abandoned rail line that rivaled an amusement park ride! We highly recommend a stay at Mama Yeya’s!

Buenaventura is not a nice city.
Buenaventura is not a nice city. It looks poor and not well mantained. You need a local inhabitant as a guide because there are areas where you should not go because it is a dangerous city. It is nce to go to Pianguita or one of the other beaches. Further there is not much to do for tourists.

Buenaventura feels like a very poor and dirty city with nothing touristy to do. It’s a way to get to several beach destinations in the area, so if you have to stay the night stay close to the harbour, otherwise just pass through.
