Chinitas Eco-Lodge is in San Francisco, a quiet village north of Tortuguero. We booked the deluxe queen room: perfect for our family, basic but clean, with good AC, and surprisingly bug-free! Breakfast was tasty, with coffee/tea, fruit, and a hot platter, and there are several wonderful hammocks for relaxing by the river. However, the best part our stay were the people: 1) Ana, one of the owners, was so warm and helpful (and patient with my attempts at basic Spanish) and her staff were equally friendly; and 2) Owen the tour guide was FANTASTIC: he has such passion for conservation, has a a sharp eye for spotting wildlife, and was instrumental in getting us to the right spots for turtle nesting. Strongly recommend booking the morning Canal tour as well as the late night Turtle tour with Owen, and booking the lodge in general if you want a welcoming, authentic experience!

Great location, spacious room, beautiful garden full of animals (sloth, monkeys, iguanas). Food is very good (all fresh), Staff is super friendly, with a special mention for all the guides (Juan, Jayjay, Miguel). Fantastic 3 days

It is a very small hotel with i think 6 rooms. The whole staff is so friendly. Cooper is great, it was very important to him, how we were feeling about everything, how the food was, the rooms and so on. You can book tours there and i would recomend it. Maybe they are a little more expensive then from other organisations. But you will have your private tour with Johnny, who is a great guy. For example for the night tour it was only the two of us with Jonny. And the boattour we had with another couple from the hotel. And the boats of other companys were full with like 15 people. Johnny knows a lot and answers all yout questions The food and the girls cooking and serving it were great as well! They even washed and dryed our clothes. I can recomend it to everybody who is coming to tortugueru!!

The wildlife is absolutely incredible, with monkeys outside our room and sightings of lots of other animals!
