The hotel went out of their way to collect my husband who was in another city and bring him to the hotel so he didn't miss his daughter who came to fly out with him the next day

Susan and Wendy were super kind. We could pick fruits from their garden. The cabin is beautiful, well maintained and clean. Everything we needed for the stay was there. Calibishie is also a very nice small village with everything there whay you need.

The location is up a high ridge above the village of Calibishie. For the island, the settlement has a wide variety of interesting places to eat and drink and the hosts are happy to recommend their favourites. The room was very spacious and had a very genuine island feel with its furnishings and decorations. Breakfasts served outside in the garden (except when raining heavily) were always interesting with island fruits, juices, breads and jams with other goodies. As one expects in Dominica, the garden was lush with interesting plants and one feels safely integrated with the local community when staying here which was my main reason for choosing to stay here.

I liked the cleanliness of the apartment in nature's Haven.

I liked the cleanliness of the apartment in nature's Haven. All the equipment and facilities were in excellent working condition. The internet signal was strong and reliable. Pearlene the owner was very helpful in providing information about the area and suggested interesting sites to visit. Also, I given an airport transfer to the Charles Douglas Airport, Marigot for a very reasonable fee. My stay was good value for money. I scored my stay a 10. I was very satisfied with my stay that at the moment, I have no suggestions of what could be improved further. Will visit again in the future.

Beautiful area to stay if you are travelling too or from the airport but not much around and beaches aren’t amazing. The other side of the island is the best for beaches. There are no atm so make sure you bring money or you have to travel back to airport or the city centre.

After travelling round the island for three weeks, this was one of our favourite parts. Beautiful location, so many remote beaches to visit and good shops and restaurants locally. We loved turtle beach, be prepared to walk off the beaten track and be rewarded we also loved , and batibou bay, be prepared to pay at batibou a small fee. We ate at sandbar and coral reef, coral reef was amazing value for money and taste. You definitely need a car to get about and see all the local places. Red rocks and chocolate factory and pointe baptiste bay are located in close proximity. If you go to chaudiere pool you will need a 4x4 for the roads leading to it, be very careful.

It wasn't easy to find a good restaurant.

It wasn't easy to find a good restaurant. We were there on a Tuesday night and the one restaurant we could find was closed on Tuesdays. There may have been bars but they didn't seem inviting - dark with little to no signage; some just looked closed. We drove north out of town, where we found a beach-side bar that was obviously open for business - it was fine. (It was frustrating having Google Maps list restaurants and shops that were not there)

I spent 2 weeks on the island and my first week was divided between Roseau and Portsmouth. I do not recommend staying in Roseau unless you are fine with city noise, speeding vehicles and shaking off unfriendly taxi's. Also always ask if EC or US as they will pull a switcheroo if they can. They will gouge you if you don't know what to pay in advance. The many locals I came in contact with on the street were friendly, just street vendors and public transport will take advantage if you let them. To be fair in Portsmouth as in Marigot folks are generally kinder and eager to welcome. Portsmouth is fun and worth a visit. I stayed aboard a sailing ship in Prince Rupert and it was peaceful and scenic. I was happy to have a full week in Marigot it was the best in my opinion. Easy to get around and many small local choices for food.

A small fishing village with stunning views.

A small fishing village with stunning views. Located within walking distance of Red Rocks, which is jaw dropping beautiful. There are also very good restaurants in the area, Coral Reef and Poz. The area is safe and survesca good base to explore the northern parts of Dominica.

Portsmouth is closer to the airport than Roseau.

Portsmouth is closer to the airport than Roseau. But, still a one hour drive from the airport for 80 U.S. dollars. There were no fancy restaurants near the Portsmouth Beach Hotel and only one bar that is a karaoke bar.
