Very clean. Close to airport. Close to restaurants. Stayed for 1 night before flying to the Galapagos the next day. Staff were friendly and booked ride to airport. Used a translation app for English Spanish communication. Breakfast was Eggs, toast, fruit.

Basic but clean hotel and accepted my pets. No elevator so if climbing stairs is difficult for you this may not be the locations for you. Convenient to the airport. Close to mall for meals.

I have been staying at DC Suites for years. I arrive from the US on late flights and like to stay at DC Suites for a good night sleep before traveling to the coast. They offer car service to and from the airport or bus terminal. English speaking. Very clean rooms at a great price. I highly recommend DC Suites.

The park of the Iguanas was a major hit with the kids.
The park of the Iguanas was a major hit with the kids. The free museum of past Guayaquil too. The Zoo in Guayaquil was amazing with African and Asian animals but the Capybara was what we all wanted to see. Malecon 2000 was beautiful with a boat ride in the river was GREAT. The Cathedral was beautiful. The Historical Park is a MUST see; was my first time and i loved it.

Guayaquil as most of Ecuador is full of crime. The hotel where I was staying was one block away from city government building and it was still not a safe place. There is a light house which is a tourist attraction and you can not go visit because your car will be stopped and you will be robbed. So the government knows about it and does nothing.

Many places and historical landmarks for sightseeing. I highly recommend the Historical Park in Samborondon.
There are security challenges at the time of visit, highly recommend that you have Spanish speaking skill or a local friend. Locals I have encountered are very friendly. Personally I did not encounter any crime or any dangerous situations.
Taxis are very cheap and cost normally no higher than $5. The infrastructure has actually improved since my last visit and I see great future for this city. I highly recommend trying grilled maduro and Pollo Campero. Some people say Pollo Campero is not the same anymore but it's pretty good IMO.
