Au séchoir à Tabac is a recently renovated holiday home in Bergerac, where guests can make the most of its seasonal outdoor swimming pool and garden. Everything was great! The owners were very discreet and very helpful! Thank YOU very much! The house was amazing, very modern and spacious, it had everything we needed. Beds were very comfortable, the house was clean and well equipped. The neighborhood was very quiet and peaceful. The pool cooled us down on hot days. We spent great time at Au séchoir à Tabac!

Bergerac (1.3 miles from Bergerac Dordogne Périgord Airport)
Set in Bergerac, in a historic building, 3.6 km from Bergerac Train Station, Along The River is a holiday home with pool with a view and free bikes. This is probably my all time favorite house rental in the world. The host was incredibly gracious and generous of her time. The house was immaculate and perfectly decorated, each room so cute and quaint. Also, the towels in the bathroom were exquisite and they even supplied face cloths! The kitchen was extremely well stocked with lovely glasses and plates. The seating area was comfortable and inviting. We were there in March so we couldn't take advantage of the extremely clean pool or the outdoor dining area but I'm sure they would be wonderful in season. The house is located a few miles from the city but it's an easy drive, and there are many convenient grocery stores and boulangeries nearby. We requested dinner, made my the host's mother - it was fabulous and plentiful, traditional regional dishes. I recommend ordering the dinner early during your stay, you'll want to have time to enjoy the leftovers! On our check out day the host insisted we not rush and take our time. That meant so much to us, and we were able to enjoy the morning market in Bergerac before checking out. Our family of 5 was very comfortable, the smallest bedroom has 2 twin beds. The 2nd bedroom has a queen bed, with a bathroom between those 2 rooms. the master bedroom had an incredible ensuite bathroom. If more guests are allowed, and stay on the couch in the living room, there's even an extra toilet room off of the nearby laundry room so they don't have to disturb others during the night. If you're looking for a home base in Bergerac/Dordogne region and do day trips from there, this is a wonderful choice and when you come back at night you'll feel like you're coming home!

Hotel De France is located in the historic town of Bergerac, a 5-minute walk from the Dordogne River. It offers a heated outdoor swimming pool and a sunbathing terrace. Great location with easy walk into town on the doorstep. Lovely and quiet with peaceful pool.
We arrived at the airport , optimistically thinking there would be taxis waiting, however this was not the case.!! There is no bus service from the airport !! that is , the busses were to say the least a mystery. We were fortunate a taxi arrived , so we took it, the driver did'nt seem to know the hotel.! It was easy walking around , the restaurants were plentiful, although the menus were all in french.!!, which was predictable as we were in France. Bergerac is a lovely town ,quaint and historical, with plenty of good wine.
A smallish town where the main sights can be seen in a few days, so go for 3 nights unless you want to go on a wine tour full or half day (recommended) out or jump on the train to Sarlat or Bordeaux. If you want vegetarian food, it's difficult to find (in many of the traditional restaurants) . The local cuisine is duck, foie gras and some beef. There isn't a lot of public transport (buses) but everywhere is walkable. Chateau Monbazillac is worth a visit (20 mins taxi) The Pécharmant, wineries to the north west of the town are a good visit as is the wine shop in the tourist office near the river.
Bergerac is a beautiful place and full of life in the summer. The season hadn't quite started yet when we visited and it was fairly quiet but still a very lovely place to visit with plenty of bars and restaurants open. The Saturday flowers, fruit and veg market had some amazing produce. The river views are spectacular as is the whole of the Dordogne region and Bergerac is very relaxing. The rooftop bar on the waterfront, above the visitor information centre is well worth a visit and a glass or two of the local wines!
Bergerac is a lovely town to visit with lots of interesting things to see. Lots of good restaurants. The train station is a 10 minute walk from the centre and has a good service for visiting nearby places. Would definitely recommend for couples who like a relaxed, pretty and friendly environment.
Great cycling along v 91 path along Dordogne river. Chateaus Tiregand was super - Assane Lupin experience Tourist info experience on Cyrano well worth going to. A Must is lake pombonne, we arrived at 12.30 had it nearly to ourselves, got busy as the afternoon wore on. Had a wonderful time swimming and walking around
Great base for exploring the Dordogne area. Train and bus facilities enable public travel over a large space but a car can give more freedom. The restaurants were in good supply and we found most excellent quality and value. Easy to get around the town and people are friendly and helpful. As with lots of France not overly dominated by tourists and the tradtional settings offer much to be admired and visited.
Comfortable friendly hotel, very convenient for Bergerac Airport. Had nice restaurant next door which we ate supper at. Very friendly staff who spoke reasonable English.
