Darlington (0.7 miles from Teesside International Airport)
Located in Darlington and only 23 km from Middlesbrough Cathedral, Highbury House, Warm and Welcoming. Provides accommodation with garden views, free WiFi and free private parking. Our stay at Pauline’s home in England was absolutely outstanding. We had the entire house to ourselves, with one or two additional guests, and it honestly felt like we had our own private home in a different country. The space was warm, welcoming, and had everything we could’ve possibly asked for. What really made this experience so special was the hospitality. Even though Pauline wasn’t there in person, she made sure we were looked after in every way. Her son and sister checked in on us, offered help, and genuinely made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. It went far beyond what you’d expect—kind, thoughtful, and personal in the best way. The beds were incredibly comfortable, the house was spotless, and every corner felt cared for. It was peaceful, cozy, and the perfect base for our time in England. We can’t thank Pauline and her family enough for such a memorable and heartwarming stay. If you get the chance to stay here—take it.

Eaglescliffe is a good base to explore Teesside and North Yorkshire. There are very good restaurants close to the station. Preston Park is a lovely place for a stroll and has an interesting museum. Eaglescliffe also boasts some very nice pubs.
Yarm is a lovely, historic town - a delight in it's own right, with many very good restaurants and welcoming pubs. The cobbled streets, viaduct and bridge over the tees have some nice walks too - very picturesque. Yarm is also very well located for the North York moors and the beautiful seaside towns of Saltburn and Whitby as well as Mount Grace Priory and Fountains Abbey.
My family and I visited the area to celebrate my Birthday with other close family living nearby. The Old Mill Rooms were perfect to conveniently lay our heads for the night!! Peaceful & clean in a fantastic location, thoroughly enjoyed our time & would love to come again some time!!
Beautiful historic town with some great pubs and places to eat. Lots of good walks along the river side to other villages all with the backdrop of the iconic railway viaduct (if you're lucky, you might see the Flying Scotsman or Sir Nigel Gresley in steam crossing it). There's a wide range of good places to stay too - from the stunning Crathorne Hall to the quirky but lovely self-catering Yarm Cottages (which have the bonus of being next to the Fox Covert pub and restaurant - highly recommended. You're also just a few minutes from Preston Park, the Cleveland Hills and Roseberry Topping, with Newcastle, York and James Herriot country within easy reach.
