Located just 5 miles from Oban, right on the lake shores and on Loch Etive, Lochnell Arms Hotel features a restaurant overlooking the famous Falls of Lora. We had to book this hotel on short notice, and it turned out to be a truly pleasant surprise. The hospitality was exceptional — the staff was courteous, attentive, and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. The location is excellent, easily accessible and well connected, which made everything so convenient. What stood out the most was the traditional breakfast — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Overall, it was a perfect blend of comfort, culture, and care. Highly recommended!

What a beautifully appointed property! It had everything we needed to relax after a few days of exploring the highland area. The kitchen was super well stocked and the living room area was soooo comfy with a huge couch and tv. The hosts left us lots of goodies to make breakfast and the view of the water was gorgeous. The instructions for parking, check in, check out and WiFi were all crystal clear.

Connel (0.8 miles from Oban Airport)
One The Cairns, a property with a garden, is set in Connel, 5.9 km from Dunstaffnage Castle, 8.6 km from Corran Halls, as well as 47 km from Massacre of Glencoe. It was so roomy! It had everything we could possibly need and we loved being able to wash clothes half way through our trip. The location was a little farther from Oban than we expected, but the bust stop was just about a half mile down the road. The owner left a book of info that really helped, but wish it explained the door locks because that was our only issue. Operator error. We even walked down and saw seals sunbathing one day. We would definitely stay here again.

I honestly regret that we could only stay one night there and had to leave very early as this place is incredible. Firstly the owner is very kind and welcoming, the place is very cosy and feels so homy. You have everything you need and more in your room, also a very nice tea set with something sweet. The room was also very big. And the stunning views just outside of the house are breathtaking. Definitely recommend and would like come back :)

Benderloch is a small linear village on the main road. An area of flat land to the west of the village has several caravan, camping and motor home sites, B&B and restaurant facilities. It is well equipped for serving tourists needs. A walk up Beinn Lora is a must. The 360 degree views are spectacular. And a reward for the steep climb. Only a short drive to Oban with all the shops, bars, restaurants, transport links, and facilities a tourist needs.
The Apartment was just perfect so modern and clean . The view was exceptional . I could have just looked at it for hours😃 We got the bus which ran hourly into Oban so we could spend the day there and have a meal and a few drinks . There’s so much to do there . I was lucky enough to get photos of the sunset 😍
I had an enjoyable stay at Benderloch, while attending a course at Dunbeg. The local beach is perfect for swimming, and there are hairy coos grazing in front of the property. Adorable. Also, in the afternoons someone in the distance plays the bagpipes, just in case you forget you’re in Scotland. There are several good restaurants in the area, but a car is recommended to get around. There is a bus but I think the timetable would be limiting. If I’d had more time I would’ve gone for walks as the area is really beautiful.
Benderloch is a great location. However, one of the main reasons I wanted to stay there was to visit Castle Stalker, but that wasn't possible because it is privately owned and only availble to tour and book in advance, and only on very limited days per month (3 - 4 days). This was a great disapointment for me. So I recommend booking it 6 months in advance of your trip.
Stunning location. Quiet and serene, exactly what I needed to escape my busy life. Take a ferry to Lismore, visit Port Appin, enjoy fresh fish in Oban, drive bit stop often to appreciate the beauty of Scotland. Take lots of photos to create wonderful memories.
As it was November, a number of venues had closed for the season but there were still a lot of restaurants to choose from within a 20 minute drive. The pink shop, Munro's is very well stocked and the staff lovely and welcoming. Ronnie, the host at Coel Ila was most welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay
