After a long motorbike ride, I arrived in Maumere and was warmly welcomed by Herman. The homestay is beautiful and peaceful, with a relaxing patio and garden. Tea and coffee grown locally by Herman are available. My room was clean, comfortable, and had AC, big windows, and good Wi-Fi. The washroom was spotless and even had lovely plants. Helpful info about the area was provided, and communication was easy via WhatsApp. Herman kindly helped me exchange money and gave useful advice when my flight plans changed due to a volcano eruption. I enjoyed a peaceful sunset in the garden and slept very well. Though I stayed only one night, I felt truly cared for. Thank you, Herman and Susi, for the warm hospitality!

WiFi was working very good (they have few different ones). 2 swimming pools with view on the sea, and the breakfast was sensational. Hot water in the shower. An open wardrobe so you can easily store your stuff. We were there while they didn't have other guests so it was super nice.

He is very nice also flexible. We did scuba diving there as well, with the help of Jordan, owner of Santai Diver Maumere. Both Hendrik and Jordan are very professional and nice people. Highly recommend!!!!!! Restaurant in The cottages is also very good, with proper order. The staff are super nice including mr Aldi. 10 stars!

HAPPY DIVE RETREAT fka Ankermi Happy Dive có hồ bơi ngoài trời, khu vườn, khu vực bãi biển riêng và sân hiên ở Hitokalak. We had a very comfortable stay at the bungalows — clean, cozy, and with breakfast included each morning. While there are small corals just in front of the resort for a quick snorkel, the real highlight is the stunning reefs reachable by boat. Claudia organizes daily trips, making it super easy to explore the area — perfect for both snorkelling and diving. Another unforgettable experience was the walking trip to Egon Volcano, which is nearby. The views were incredible and absolutely worth the hike.

A bit outside of Maumere (about 20-25min by bike, 30 by car), so nice and quiet except directly on the road so there was traffic noise. The fan in the bedroom was nice for keeping airflow but just wish we had another blanket (we could have asked earlier but at night there were no staff around). The staff were super nice and helpful and moved us to a better room. Online only the deluxe double (room with 2 double beds) was available but there were rooms on the water with just 1 double bed so maybe WhatsApp them for availability as opposed to booking online. Not many people around so the staff close up around 6pm unless you’re eating dinner. Not much for snorkeling that we saw, but maybe if you swim out a bit. Right on the shore is mostly rocks. Beds: had a mosquito net if you are into that. A little too soft for us but great pillows and clean and comfortable. Bathrooms: Hot water! Like super hot. Our first true super hot shower in a week! Great water pressure and clean and nice. All around a great stay along our journey around Flores. Great sunset spot!! Beautiful!

The seclusion and remoteness was the appeal for us and it was everything we hoped for. Our arrival was delayed due to very strong winds and Virginie the host/owner was incredibly helpful in making alternative arrangements for us. Virginie is also a talented chef and we loved trying local Flores dishes as well as her European cuisine. We really enjoyed the diving with Antone, stress free and some beautiful macro as well as impressive giant fan corals. Visiting the villages on the island was also a highlight. The resort is very comfortable, lots of places to lounge and relax. It’s an island paradise and lucky are those who make the trip. Thank you for everything Virginie and Antone, this holiday will stay in our hearts and we look forward to come again.
