Absolutely amazing project, the training they provide has astounding results and ultimately helps young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to substantially improve their socio-economic status (and that of their families). Welcoming, food and spa treatments were impeccable, among the best we received after four years in Indonesia.
Set in Weetebula, 1.3 km from Mananga Aba Beach, Mario Hotel and Cafe offers accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a restaurant.

This is a great spot to start your journey in Sumba. Next to the ocean this place belongs to a community and is real, it is run by locals who will assist you with all your needs. The rooms are simple, but very clean and unbeatable for the price, even with AC. The ladies working there were so sweet and nice, they organized a pick-up from the airport, a scooter to rent, and I could even store my luggage with them while I was away for a few days. The breakfast was rich and also yummy dinner options available. I felt very good.

Leaving Oro House felt like saying goodbye to family – I had to wait a month before I could even talk about it without getting emotional.
Oro House was my home in Sumba - I had the most amazing time here. During my week-long stay, I watched sunset at their private beach every single day, and even got to see a double rainbow once! They have this gorgeous secluded beach perfect for sunbathing and swimming.
To me, this is the most welcoming place in West Sumba. Siska gave me great travel tips while encouraging me to discover my own adventures. Her family and friends made me feel so cared for - I always had delicious food and ice-cold Bintang beers at the home restaurant.
They've got tons of Sumba books at reception too (especially super helpful Sumba-info). I missed here already when i on my flight to Bali.
Hope to return someday. So grateful to Siska and the whole family.
Quick practical stuff:
• Only 15 mins drive from Tambolaka Airport
• Well-paved roads from both airport and town
• Convenient Indomart runs if u have a scooter
