Super convenient for both the KTX train station and the airport. Excellent Korean breakfast buffet where even a vegetarian like me could get her tummy full enough to last most of the day. And such a comfortable room that I regretted only booking one night, and not being able to enjoy it more.

It’s walking distance (opposite) to KimDaeJung Convention Centre. Metro is also nearby. There is also convenience store next to the lobby. We loved the room as it’s cosy & comfortable during the trip.

Room was very spacious and clean. It has a double door that blocked out noise from outside. Besides a long desk with laptop to use for free, there was also a coffee table with an armchair and stool. There was a LG Tromme Stylus for use in the room to dry and sanitised clothes.

Gwangju is the 6th largest city in Korea.
Gwangju is the 6th largest city in Korea. There’s plenty to do and see, but is definitely at least a weekend trip. However, there is something for everybody — whether you’re into hiking, history, shopping, or eating. Gwangju is also pretty spread out depending on what you want to do/see so plan accordingly and make note of where things are!
Make sure to go to a Kia Tigers Baseball Game when you’re there!

I stayed in Gwangju for a week primarily to do an event with the world famous Koran Randonneur Cycling Club. A 600k Gwangju-Busan-Gwangju. The ride started near City Hotel which is also located near the bike paths along the river. While in Gwangju I visited the very excellent Gwangju Museum of Art and the Cemetery. Gwangju seems like a very livable city with (at least) two universities and a vibrant industrial, commercial sector.

Gwangju publicises itself as an arts and culture centre.
Gwangju publicises itself as an arts and culture centre. It has a fantastic national museum and an interesting modern art museum. A Famous K-pop star BTS J Hope) comes from there and there is a cool area with cool shops and restaurants.
I would have stayed a couple more days to see some more things but my accommodation wasn't to my liking and I moved on.
