Featuring garden views, Sigiri Siesta Homestay offers accommodation with terrace, around 3.4 km from Sigiriya Rock. Tremendous. Mahesh and his family were outstanding. They welcomed us into their home and made everything so easy for us. It was an authentic home stay experience and we loved every minute of it. They prepared a delicious Sri Lankan breakfast, helped us to get to their accommodation and to leave. They organised a fantastic safari where we saw many elephants in the wild with a baby elephant of only a few days old. They arranged a great tuck-tuck pick up and drop off to visit and climb a local landmark. The drivers they arranged for us were thorough and showed us all of the best sites. Mahesh went above and beyond. He is a fantastic man with a fantastic family.

Featuring garden views, Manju Homestay provides accommodation with patio, around 3.4 km from Sigiriya Rock. This property offers access to a terrace, free private parking and free WiFi. Manju and his family were perfect hosts, which made the stay very lovely. When I arrived, room was already cooled down by A/C which shows great customer care. Room is simple, but clean and everything you need. I also liked this "jungle" vibe. I couldn't expect better price/quality ratio. Manju also took me to Pidurangala rock for a small fee at 5am. There is extremely good place to eat just a few mins away (Kaluwara). Breakfast was lovely too. I highly recommend this place!

Gangadiya Lodge is a small family-managed hotel in a quiet area just about five minutes away from the entrance to Sigiriya Rock. The family is very welcoming and has helped us with the organization of a Jeep Safari. They have their own tuktuk and were happy to drive us to Sigiriya Rock or to the village at a fair rate. Nice garden, excellent Sri Lankan breakfast.
Watching the sunset from Sigiriya was truly unforgettable. As the sun dipped low behind the distant hills, the entire landscape transformed into a canvas of gold, orange, and soft pinks. The ancient rock fortress, already majestic by day, took on a mystical glow during golden hour.
Stayed 6 nights and used Sigiriya as a base for visiting the ancient cities, an elephant safari, a boat trip, for Dambulla caves, a Loris walk and to climb Lion Rock and Pidurangala. This is the perfect spot being central to all those places and having great facilities with a lovely sleepy village feel. Tuk tuks prices are a bit hiked but nothing else negative to say.
Sigiriya is stunning and has a lovely village charm to it, compared to the tourist/backpacker mecca that is Ella. There are plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from but it somehow doesn't detract and Sigiriya still feels very local and true to SL values.
A nice hike to view a breathe taking view. If anyone should travel to Sigiriya they should start to climb the rock at 5.30am as the ticket counters open. Wearing proper hiking or workout clothes would be the best.
There is so much more to do in this area than I realised. I will definitely come back. The area is beautiful and we were sad to leave. We dud Pidurangala Rock which was fun, more of an adventurous climb than Lions Rock. It has incredible views of Lions Rock. We also did a safari in Minneriya National Park. The park was beautiful and we saw so many elephants plus lots of varieties of birds, golden jackals, monkees, mongoose, the grizzled giant squirrel, buffalo and jungle foul. We also went to Dambula Temple Caves which is very spiritual and Luckgrove Spice Gardens which was an incredible experience. Highly recommend this area.
I’ll never forget the day we spent climbing Sigiriya. And no wonder such a wonderful World Heritage Site kept popping up everywhere: Test it against the massive old fortress, the gorgeous frescoes, and images taken of landscapes from the summit, and there you’ll pick one of Sri Lanka’s greatest treasures. Not an easy or casual climb but certainly one that throws panoramic views so very far worth it and lucid into history at every step. Water gardens at the bottom quite worth a visit. One has to get there at dawn to avoid numerous tourists and scorching sun. Thus, in general, Sigiriya is a combination of artistic creation, engineering work of antiquity, and a miracle of nature, and a must-see site in Sri Lanka.
