Staying at Adi Hostel was unforgettable. Hidden in the Medina’s maze, just steps from Jemaa el-Fna, it’s the perfect mix of authentic Marrakech and comfort. The riad-style design is stunning — colorful tiles, peaceful courtyards, and a rooftop with breathtaking views of the city and Atlas Mountains. Everything is spotless, the rooms are cozy, and the breakfast with mint tea is the best start to the day. But what makes it truly special is the staff — warm, welcoming, and always ready to guide you through Marrakech’s magic. For travelers who want both energy and calm, Adi Hostel is the place to be.
100% a must go! This was my fourth trip to Marrakesh: 2005, 2011, 2018 and 2025. I LOOOOOVE IT! It is such a vibrant city filled with aromas, music, sounds, tasty food, lots of entertainment, multicultural, nice locals and most importantly, safe for all, including solo travelers. The city has a particular smell of raw leather and aromatic spices, so delicious! Walking inside the Medina and discovering the specialty articles of the many different souks, turning a corner an finding the workshops were those same articles are being created by hand right in front of your eyes, metal lamps, leather bags, belts etcs., is an incredible gift and eye opening to the soul, It instantly makes you appreciate the hard labour and gifted workmanship the creators of these articles you take home, invest in making such beautiful items. If you have a taste for eclectic home decorations, my oh my, you are up for a treat! So many amazing hand made articles are available at one huge covered market that sometimes it is hard to decide what to take home with you. Morrocans are kind loving people, who love to talk and learn about other countries and the culture of their peoples. They invite you to hot mint tea (delicious and potent), while they you and they negotiate a deal mutually satisfying for the artible you want to buy. Its pretty fun negotiating prices at the souk. I recommend going to Marrakesh if you have the chance. Stay at least 1 week, so you can explore all the winding streets of the Medina and surrounding areas.
Our trip to Marrakech was such a memorable experience for me and my husband! We truly enjoyed every moment - from the magical hot air balloon ride at sunrise with breathtaking views, to the fun camel ride that gave us a real taste of Moroccan culture. The buggy ride added so much adventure and excitement to our trip, and of course, the food was absolutely delicious with its rich flavors and spices. We also loved taking in the beautiful scenery everywhere - from the vibrant souks and historic sites to the peaceful desert landscapes. Overall, Marrakech gave us the perfect mix of adventure, culture, and relaxation, and it was such a special trip to share together.
As female travellers we felt safe in Marrakech. We wore clothes which covered shoulders / thighs in respect of muslim culture. Other women wore much more revealing clothing and did not appear to attract unwanted attention. The Bahia Palace and Secret Garden were welcome respite from the heat and sun as well as interesting places to see the restoration of traditional architecture. The souks were an assualt on the senses - keep your wits about you as you are navigating narrow passages while dodging people, products, bicycles, motorbikes, carts and mules. We were vigilent re: personal possessions, but I didn't feel at particular risk of theft, harm. Haggling is definitely expected, and while sellers are diligent in their trade, they mostly accepted polite refusals if we were genuinely not interested in making a purchase.
Be open to let this vibrant city and its friendly and open inhabitants do their magic. Let them give you a herbs and spices tour, show their craft and do accept the tea - always. Enjoy stepping aside for donkey-waggons, scooters and bikes. Watch how everyone accepts each other and see the structure in this most harmonious chaos.
Morocco is an amazing cultural experience. It's definitely an adventure on a daily basis with a wide selection of artisanal works from leather, wood and carpets. The old Berber villages are amazing to visit, they offer a great calm in contrast to the fast pace of Marrakesh or the late-night souks of FES. For artists or art lovers, there are vibrant colours, patterns, and intricate architecture all over the country. Also, picturesque landscapes, Oases, and desert sands.
