The city is fairly clean, especially in the area where I stayed. I did not have the opportunity to visit other parts of the city. Unfortunately, my Portuguese language is very poor so I had challenges communicating with citizens. I spent my evenings indoors becasue of thaty

Something different Town fairly run-down but central area fairly up market Quite safe and friendly people Park car at your accommodation do not use if possible Taxis and tuk tuks provide easy relatively cheap transport everywhere just ensure you have sufficient small notes / change Difficult to find supermarket supplies bring basics with you Beach quite dirty and water smelt of sewerage Restaurant food quite expensive, ended up eating whole chicken at PeriPeri. Even fruit was expensive Not many attractions and some were not well looked after Next time will take ferry to Inhaca for beach time

It was easy to get around Maputo.
It was easy to get around Maputo. Highlights, Ktembe Bridge,Port, Fish Market, you can buy and get them prepare your seafood just outside. We enjoyed that.Many little restuarants outside the market, Museum, Cathedral, Baira Mall. Beach accross the mall street Train station.

From the day I booked till I moved in everything was seamlessly and the maid was too friendly even though there was a language barrier there and there. I really enjoyed my stay and they cleaned the apartment everyday.

It looks like the new president is really fixing some things. The police and traffic officers are no longer asking for money or acting greedily. It used to be a nightmare to travel there because of police and traffic stops. I was once arrested just for taking a picture and forced to pay R2,000. It looked like the money went straight to the chief police officer because they kept going back to him. They were extremely greedy. I even thought of staying in the police cell until court opened on Monday, but I realised that the court system at the time was also unfair and greedy. Now things seem different. Visiting Mozambique has become a much better experience. The police are professional, focused on safety, and issue legitimate fines instead of trying to make money. I’ve also noticed more small B&Bs and hotels opening in smaller cities, which is a very positive development.

Language barrier and the traffic officers always stopping your car to look for small issues if you have all documentation so that they can ask for bribes was a nightmare. Rather have a local to show you around, it makes the communication better, otherwise is it a beautiful city to visit. Try out the different islands in Bilene they are beautiful.
