Very welcoming and inviting. I arrived around midnight, I did not want to wake the hosts so I decided to walk over 3 miles to get from the docks to the hostel. Being such a small island, someone contacted the hosts (unbeknownst to me) and let them know I was walking… They picked me up around one in the morning and saved me about 2 miles of walking. Super friendly. A decent place to snorkel (relatively speaking based on my Snorkeling experience on this Motu) is right across from the hostel. BTW, the best place IMO (on this Motu) is “the aquarium “ … you’ll need to hire a small boat to get you there though. Super clear and tons of fish.

I loved the outlook of my hotel room which had Rangiroa’s fabulous lagoon in front of my balcony. (I had the “deluxe double room with balcony & sea view”). Absolutely stunning spot. Note that some of Te Mao’s rooms are on the other side of the road (on the airport side, not the lagoon side), and if you stay in one of those, there’s a walkway down alongside Te Mao’s private driveway to the lagoon where swimming is sensational. Very friendly and helpful manager/organiser Natua, who can’t speak a lot of English but took time to speak with me to translate with my app. She gave me lots of helpful info about taxis, supermarkets, places to eat, rental bikes & scooters, ATMs etc, even drove me to the ATM when I asked her where I could get cash for a tour. The location of Te Mao was a great fit for me as it is in-between the two townships on this main section of Rangiroa’s land. The location made it easy to go to Tepua Pass one night for dinner & to watch the sunset and Avatoru Pass the next afternoon to see the markets & eat there. Tours pick you up from this section of Rangiroa too. And taxis are easy until about 8pm when there are less of them.

Gorgeous property, very kind hostess who let us take the bikes for a spin until the room was ready when we arrived early from our flight. Loved that they provided kayaks, bikes and also things like mosquito spray was super sweet. Great location on the lagoon.

The room was so comfortable. The refrigerator and kitchennette were great! We used the kayak, made dinner on the fireplace, spent hours walking the tide pools.

The staff at Raira Lagon truly made everything as good as it could be for us, and made an amazing breakfast for my husband as I requested a surprise roomservice , thank you so much for this! The bungalow by the water is private , comfortable and beautiful! Daily cleaning, beautiful view, comfy and spacious bed, nice shower and bathroom. Everything you could wish for! Breakfast is good and is enjoyed with a lagoon view that is spectacular. Dinners are great and cocktails too, and sometimes they have traditional dancing shows by a local group which one should not miss! The snack by the hotel is also super great with tasty foods and drinks, so the availability for getting something to eat or drink is great always! The location is superb as it is close to the airport and in the middle of the main island , so you can easily get around to both ends of the island. Free bikes is a big plus!! And kayaks too. The staff also helped with booking excursions etc, which was very helpful. Will definitely come back when we visit French polynesia again! Thank you so much for making our stay amazing!!

Terai is a sweet host who wants to make sure everyone is happy. We loved staying at her beach house. All of the reviews on other sites say it all. My teen boys loved having kayaks. We biked everywhere. Itwas a fun trip.
