It was a quiet area, the rooms were clean and comfortable, with all the necessary amenities and the staff was extremely helpful and kind.
In particular, dr. Ron at the reception not only welcomed us on our first visit to the States, but he was extremely kind, and meeting him was truly one of the highlights of our trip. He was very helpful, not only in making sure we were comfortable at the hotel, but all the recommendations and advice he gave us helped us have the best time possible in Memphis.
I’d definitely recommend the hotel, even though it might not be at the heart of the city, it’s easy enough to navigate the area with a car.

Location Close to Graceland, pool for a swim after a hot day. Access to bar for a beer and brekkie with cappuccino. Courtesy bus to and from the airport and bus driver took us to a restaurant and picked us up which was great.

This place is 20 mins walk from Graceland so if you're on a budget it's ideal, a couple of bars within five minutes walk and a few places near to eat, don't expect luxury but it was okay for a short stay.

We visited Memphis after Nashville, Huntsville and we started at Atlanta. From all these cities, Nashville and its ambience and vibrant living is our absolute nr. 1. Memphis was a bit of "faded glory" to us, if they do not have Elvis (Graceland) and some blues bars......you can skip the city. Beale street is a bit grimy, especially compared to the Honky Tonk highway of Nashville and Bourbon street of New Orleans.
There were more visible homeless people than in those other cities, in the centre with trash and smell. What is the city doing for these people, it was hard to walk by as a tourist, in a busy street full of cars and only three meters away you see human beings suffering, smelling, shivering from the cold..... the only city is the world that provoked me even more on that issue was San Francisco. Memphis, do something about this!

I'm assuming there are parts of Olive Branch that are nicer than the specific area the Hotel Desoto is located in. We went to South Haven which was very nice - just were not good eating establishments directly around Hotel Desoto.

This was an updated area. The rooms had been updated and so was the lobby and the breakfast area. The carpet in our room already has a stain on the floor by the sink. But the rest was great. My only real issue was the hot water was not hot, but warm only. After the long drive, a hot bath would have been useful.

Memphis is a well-known landmark filled with cultural and music history references. Beale street is fun on Saturday night. We also visited Graceland and thought it was a bit disappointing. I think 1 night was just right, and ideally I'd recommend that it's a Friday or Saturday night. The city doesn't feel completely safe, so be cautious.

1. Very comfortable room with 24-hour free shuttle that does not require reservation in advance
2. Clean and big fitness room. The swimming pool looks nice but I didn't use it because it was still cold.
3. Generally speaking, it is a pretty good hotel to stay for those who arrive at MEM Airport late or will catch an early flight at MEM Airport.
Good location, clean rooms and comfortable. The hotel is not in the greatest neighborhood, but has good safety features such as a gate in the front. Nice location close to MEM airport.
