We really enjoyed our stay here. The house was clean and had everything we needed and more. There was enough space for the whole family. The bed and sofa were comfortable. We had breakfast outside every morning and the terrace was a great place to escape during the day if the sun got too hot. The location was also amazing - the house was surrounded by nature and close to the lake shore. My children and I personally enjoyed playing with the dogs, who were friendly, sociable, well-trained and very intelligent. The village is close to the main roads, so you can choose which side of the region you want to travel to, and it was a good opportunity for us to drive and explore the natural treasures of East Estonia (hiking and fishing on Lake Peipus, at the Valaste waterfall) and cultural heritage (museums and the castle in Rakvere, Tartu). Special mention should be made of the hospitality, care and help of the host Mari. One day, while traveling around the area, we got into a very unpleasant situation (our car broke down seriously). Since it happened in a remote area - quite far from where we live, and our efforts to find a repair shop that would take on the repair of our car were unsuccessful, we turned to Mari for help and within a few hours she and her husband found a tow truck for the car, found a repair shop and organized my family's transport back. Here we received not only accommodation services, but also assistance in a problematic situation. Therefore, the stay left an unforgettable impression not only about the wonderful country of Estonia, but also about the empathetic people living here.

The owner was very lovely and kind. She had a shed with a padlock behind the apartment for us to put our bicycles in. The apartment was in an old building but was very nicely done up inside- it was not the same as the photo but we wouldn't have minded either way. The owner has the restaurant next door and we had a delicious Estonian dinner there- check times as they can close early! Breakfast there was delicious too - highly recommended.

The apartment is next to the Põltsamaa River, across from Roosisaar (Rose Island), a beautiful park which seems to be popular with young couples. The river has a fairly strong current here, so you'll hear the relaxing sound of water pushing past the rocks and reeds. Surprisingly, you don't hear many manmade sounds here, so it's a wonderful spot to unwind. Most of the times we went out, there were ducks in the river or flying overhead. The ruins of Põltsamaa castle are a short walk down the road. In case you're a fan of The Czar's Madman, Võisiku manor is about fifteen minutes by bus, but sadly it's shut down and roped off as of June 2024. The apartment is spacious and has all the necessities for a couple (perhaps with one child), including plenty of cooking utensils. The large bed is comfy, and there is a small room where a youngster can sleep. The decor is unusual, as you can see from the photos, but my daughter loved the Soviet-era radio.
