We were a family of five (parents, a grandparent, and 2 young kids) and we were thrilled to have our own little apartment/house near the main Quinta that gave us 3 real bedrooms and bathrooms as well as a kitchen and living room, which made it easy for us to all have enough space to maneuver on our own schedules. It was very easy to access the train station. We easily rode up to Pinhao, had lunch and a boat ride, and came back in the late afternoon. Another day we went down to the Arouca suspension bridge. I appreciated that we were in a beautiful part of the Douro, but it wasn't swarmed with tourists either.
