Fresh made omelet, orange juice, fresh crusty baguette; other breads, danish, cheese, carafe of hot coffee, etc. The whole experience was very different and so much better than what I am used to. I am used to staying in 4 and 5 star hotels but this villa experience is more like a luxury bed & breakfast. The food is absolutely gourmet and excellent. The decor in the whole villa and the room is combination of African and French tastes. Whomever did the exterior and interior design has great taste and vision. The location of the villa is quite far from Dakar and in a rather remote area which is a pleasant departure from a city atmosphere. Very tranquil and I slept so well in a very comfortable bed. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The villa also provided transportation to and from the airport at a very reasonable price. The driver, Michel, is a very good driver, efficient and prompt. I cannot say enough good things about Villa Chanalu.

I'm just in love with this place. The owner managed to create wonderful relaxed, cozy and chic feeling here. the staff is beyond friendly and helpful. I had the room by the pool - there's nothing better to wake up with the views of the pool and beach. Great breakfast!

Rooms are beautifully decorated with local fabrics. spacious room with separate living area and great storage for all my luggage, clothing and purchases. separate toilet. shower was hot with great water pressure. the outdoor sitting areas were comfortable and provided enough privacy when needed. open air dining was a delight both day and night. pool was refreshing and clean. the tropical landscaping was absolutely stunning! But the BEST part of my stay: the incomparable hospitality of my hosts, Jean-Pierre and Veronique. I have never felt so well taken care of and in such capable hands anywhere else in the world that I've traveled to. JP and Vero are more than great hosts, they are great people to know and learn from. Genuine, warm, and full of insider knowledge about the area, the language, the culture and the local activities and attractions. JP and Vero helped me find everything I needed in / around Ngaparou from food to excursions to shopping. They helped me avoid tourist traps and even negotiated fair prices for tours, drivers, purchases and more. JP is a great guide and driver as well! I felt so safe on the often treacherous roads with him behind the wheel. Vero and I share a love of books and wax fabrics - I even got to visit a local nursery she volunteers at... a heart-filling experience that I will never forget! I felt so lucky to spend my birthday with these 2 wonderful people. I now think of them more as friends than as hosts. Much love and many thanks to them both!

And I mean a genuine effort to get to know each guest and create a great experience for them, not formal hotel politeness. Despite the language barrier we felt at home. 2) Food at dinner! Worthy of a gourmet restaurant 3) Lots of memorable and special details: stylish room decor, very comfy beds, a great selection of music at dinner. Overall, La Maison Vanille is a place with great personality, that leaves you with great memories. Thank you!

Very nice common sitting room/kitchen with big windows and free view (only some hot sun at breakfast). Strong wifi. Many restaurants at walking distance. Walking back after dark is safe.

The hosts (Marcel and Josephine) are absolutely amazing. They are super friendly and helpful. Their son played a lot with our kids (3 and 5 year old). The apartment is very spacious and super clean. The garden is also very big (kids can run!) and the swimming pool is good.
