The location is superb. We stayed in one of 6 units so it’s small but feels just right. The hosts Shelley and Ross are very welcoming and helpful. Its position right by the beach of this quiet safe sandy bay was perfect. Understandable that kiwis book here. Lovely to walk the length of the bay at dawn or dusk. Outside grassy area and tables overlooking the bay with shade when it’s very hot. There are no bars, shops or restaurants in this area which makes it really peaceful. There’s a communal gas barbecue to use. Laundry room and drying facilities and you can borrow beach towels. Small onsite shop for essentials if needed but other shops are a short drive away.

The Lighthouse Lookout is a recently renovated bed and breakfast in Tutukaka, where guests can make the most of its pool with a view, free WiFi, private beach area and water sports facilities.

Lovely helpful homestay host, great location across from the beach. The local Salt Air Cafe is perfect for breakfast and lunch. The surrounding area and little bays are stunning. Clean, stylish comfy rooms with own kitchen and bathroom. We managed to have a swim and a kayak just across the road. Wished we had the time to have stayed longer.

Great and welcoming host. Her house was extremely nice and clean, so clean that you could potentially hurt yourself on the sliding windows (but this won't happen, she did put stuff to prevent it). Nice private access to the beach (even though you need to walk a lot in order to have decent water depth.

Set in Whangarei Heads, in a historic building, 27 km from Northland Event Centre, Stuart's is a recently renovated holiday home with water sports facilities and garden.

Loved the location! The beds were super comfy and we had really good sleeps. The unit was spacious for us all and we loved watching the harbour from the front patio.

What a location ,its a small cabin next to owners house right on the beach .Loved sitting outside at night looking out to sea ,you also can use the kayaks and sup that are there .The owners were there to help and advice you on anything you needed and local area and great little find.

The apartment was worth every dollar spent and it shows. The property was tastefully decorated, the carpet was so lush and soft, and the bed was so comfortable. We also had access to a heated pool which was a pleasant surprise. The views, especially in the main bedroom, were also magical. Perfect spot to watch the sunrise and stargaze if the skies are clear. The location was a perfect in between to Tutukākā and Matapōuri beaches.
