At the suggestion of Correos, we started our Bilbao segment of the Camino del Norte at the Guggenheim Museum and followed the path along the Nervion River the entire distance to Gexto. Gexto Rooms was chosen primarily due to its proximity to the Vizcaya Bridge (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), but was much more! This small hotel seems to be newly renovated with great attention to detail and hospitality. Bathroom was modern and clean and roomy. Bed was very comfortable and linens were of nice quality. Our hosts were gracious, accommodating, and interested in providing a fine stay, which it was! Note for pilgrims: Though not the "official" Way, this alternate route made for an easy warm-up day to begin our hike to Santander. Civil improvements being made to the pedestrian walkway have softened this largely industrial zone and a Lidl supermarket, located about 5 miles in, carried any beverages or snacks you might wish to stock up on. Arriving in Las Arenas early in the afternoon allowed for a relaxed start to our week and time to enjoy the town's beach promenade and sample plenty of pinchos! The following morning, we crossed over to Portugalete via the gondola— an experience that we would've otherwise missed! The Camino's yellow arrow was easy to find on the other side.

This was in a historic area but the access was very easy and the location wonderful. The hosts meet us and guided us to the door and provided lots of helpful information about the area. The apartment is comfortable and well looked after and has everything you need for a good stay. Thoughtful touches include washing tablets and enough plates and glasses for the dishwasher. Everything was handled so well. You are close to lots to explore as well as having easy access to Bilbao by public transport to visit the Guggenheim. A perfect stay.

It was made all in good quality and you feel very comfortable from the first moment. Staff was very friendly and helpful! There was also a bottle of water and facilities to make coffee on the room. What was great after a long hike. Very beautiful surrounding.

The hosts are really friendly and messaging with them was smooth. Own garage space for guest with direct entry to the basement. Peaceful good night sleep and brilliant, generous breakfast. Rooms are spacious, light and perfectly clean.

Avesome, lovely hosts who gave us useful advices what was worth visiting. Every day we enjoyed a delicious breakfast. Very comfortable, clean and big apartment with parking. We loved all the details put by the host. We stayed for five days and had enough coffee and dishwashing detergent, etc. All is modern and very clean. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. Easy self check-in and check-out.

The property was extremely clean , and we had everything you would need inside A home ftom home .. a lovely large terrace was an added bonus and in a lovely, quiet neighbourhood . It was a short walk to metro and in the other direction to a lovely square with a pub restaurants and shops . The person who we dealt with Maitena was very helpful and gave us information on the area and also, let us check in to the apartment earlier, which was great for us as we arrived early in the morning . Would definitely recommend this property
