Upon entering our room and opening the window, we were greeting by a refreshing cool breeze coming off the water and the sounds of birds chattering in the forested hills around us. Our stay here was incredibly relaxing and they had everything we could possibly want. Fantastic!

The innkeeper, Miya, grew up in this house and knows Shodoshima intimately. A stay here will give you a wonderful sense of how a traditional Japanese home feels. The tatami rooms are so comfortable. I was able to fully recuperate after some exhausting travel. Miya could not be more accommodating and kind to her guests. She will give you many recommendations and guidance to experience this island. This is truly the best place I stayed in Japan for this kind of hospitable experience. It’s very close to the Tonosho station as well.

Beautiful and majestic old-school onsen hotel. Fantastic view. Lovely onsen. I changed my plans just to enjoy it for another day. Note: there is a shuttle bus pick-up at the port (bus will come within 15 minutes when you call (before 6pm)) - you'll see the pick-up point in front of the low building). There are also drop-offs scheduled in the morning. Great big breakfast. Bicycle available to order.
