If you never been to Kalpitiya, it has a sense of being on the outskirts of civilization. Here you stay nestled among the houses of the locals and share the beach with its fishermen. Beside great kite- and windsurfing (and endless beaches of course), there is not a ton of things to do in Kalpitiya. Scuba diving is good, when there is visibility. Dolphin watching is also a possible activity, but quite an expensive one that last a couple of hours. You won’t find any city center with shops, bars and restaurants near, but you can of course visit other resorts and use their facilities. However you should know that you have a very good restaurant on site if you stay at the Sea Sand Resort! This establishment is made up of about 10 small bungalows with a restaurant. The bungalows are quite basic, but very clean and comfortable and represents good value for money. Within about 10 minutes or more on foot, you can reach surf schools and beaches. From my own experience I can promise that you will be very well taken care off if you chose to stay at Sea Sand Resort.

Kitelantis provides lagoon front accommodation in Kalpitiya. Among the various facilities of this property are a water sports facilities and an outdoor swimming pool. We had a great stay in this beautiful resort. It started with a warm welcome and a lovely fruit juice. The rooms were very spaceious and so clean. We loved the outdoor shower. The swimmingpool is great and also is the common area. They serve a great breakfast and cook great meals. Everyone is so friendly. We booked a lagoon tour which was great. They realy took their time and even took as swimming. I would highly recommend this place to stay. Thank you to all the great staff for giving us an incredible time.

The beach itself is a tranquil and pristine oasis, resembling a private beach where you can soak up the sun in peace. The sea is calm and gentle, resembling a pool rather than rough waves. Privacy is also exceptional on the beach. Overall, this resort is an exceptional choice for anyone seeking an idyllic getaway. SurfPoint Sri Lanka is a really cool spot to spend time, to base from for kiting and/or to take lessons. I did lessons and the quality of the instruction was outstanding. The hotel is comfortable and has a really nice common area where people hang out, eat, and talk story about the day’s adventures and have a laugh. Nevertheless, the hotel is nice and quiet for sleeping. The value is excellent, the food is good and competitively priced, and the staff are wonderful. I highly recommend SurfPoint Sri Lanka, and I plan to return.

This area SL low key not all built up, quieter! The great breezes make it kite surfers paradise, and the breezes make the huge covered porch a nice place to hang out.. The family that manages very helpful, content & beautiful. They make good food, and help arrange local needs. The first night I stayed in budget room, but then upgraded for 2 nights to the larger cabana because it has better cross ventilation & surfaces to put things on. Both size rooms have your own porch with cushioned seating. Neither rooms have a/c but you don't need it with the good breezes & room fans.

Anawasal offers lagoon front accommodation and yoga classes in Kalpitiya. Free private parking is available on site. Everything! The surroundings are beautiful and the staff was very kind, attentive and helpful :)

We had the best time staying at Wild Wadi Wilpattu. The property is located about 5 - 10 minutes from the Wilpattu park entrance which not only means you can easily book a safari but you also experience some incredible wild life just steps outside your door. We cannot praise the staff enough. Everyone we spoke with was so nice and so accommodating. It’s very clear that the folks at Wild Wadi are very passionate about animals, the environment and sharing all of their knowledge with their guests. We had breakfast and dinner at Wild Wadi each night. We had traditional Sri Lankan meals and it was some of the best food we had so far on our trip. We would highly recommend booking at Wild Wadi if you are visiting Wilpattu - such an incredible experience! We will be back!
