Emerald Bay Resort is located in Chokocho village in the south of Pemba. Surrounded by tropical vegetation, this Arabic-styled resort faces a characteristic natural port. Emerald Bay Resort - a relaxed casual intimate resort hidden away from view at the southern tip of Pemba Island - an absolute paradise. The rooms are comfortable with a spacious bathroom and excellent hot water shower. There is a good size swimming pool set in beautiful landscaped gardens - a ideal place to spend a lazy afternoon! All dining is on the roof top terrace - dinners are delicious with lots of fresh seafood caught locally. All the usual breakfast foods available plus GREAT pancakes and local doughnuts! All staff absolutely super friendly and helpful. We were met by Luca who hosted us throughout our stay and we were warmly welcomed into the Emerald Bay family. Luca took us out on the boat (dhow) each day to the amazing pristine white sand banks and turquoise warm sea - totally magical and relaxing. Emerald Bay is truly a genuinely special place, out of the tourist hot spots and absolutely in tune with nature and the location. We loved our stay. Thank you to Luca and Raphael for creating the perfect finale to our East African adventure.

The owner is present daily and happy to assist with coordinating excursions, answering questions & just generally engaging with the guests. The prices for the excursions were very fair and it was great to be able to split them with other guests. Every meal was excellent. Breakfast was included & the $10US charge for the communal dinner was a fantastic bargain… the property is just steps away from where the fisherman come in each day so it couldn’t get any fresher

Our room was very comfortable and spacious. We stayed in the premium rooms. Property has recently gone through a renovation and is quite nice and a good value compared to the other two options in the area. They are really trying to create a nice experience for guests. They had scooters for rent to explore the area. Nice beach to walk during low tide. It’s a nice option in an area that has limited options.

It was really good to see tides in action in this remote location, away from tourist-filled main island of Zanzibar.
