We struck lucky with this one. Great location and super clean, simple and comfortable. Really good value for money when compared with other hotels in Santiago. We think it may be brand new because everything looked new and didn't see any previous reviews. There's an octopus restaurant next to it which, if we had more time, we would have tried out; someone we met on the other side of town recommended that place.

The location is PERFECT! If you stay here for the Easter week, almost every parade will walk through the Rua Nova (right in front of the door). There is no reception at Pensión Rua Nova, but Hotel RUA Villar take a good care of us, and offers is hot water several times without any charging. They also bring our luggage to our room at the day we arrive.

    This was the only place on the Camino Portugues where we were handed our keys, and invited to go to our room before doing the paperwork.Very thoughtful. The staff and nuns were all friendly, smiling and helpful. Our room was simple but comfortable with a private bathroom The casa diocesana is in a quiet area, a 15minutes' walk from the cathedral. Breakfast is plentiful, with fresh fruit, cheese and ham etc.
