What a pleasant surprise! One of the few dog friendly places on our journey, stopped for one night only, with very low expectations , but we were impressed . For the price (44 euros / double room with bathroom + 10 euros for the dog) it was excellent : clean , smelled nice , clean linen and towels , views of the mountain , quiet , quaint village where dogs can be walked off the leash in the woods . Great service too.

La Barbacana has a shared lounge, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Tramacastiel.

We love the remoteness of the place.. So quiet and peaceful, nice walks, there is a bar in the Hostel and you can book an evening meal.. Our host was absolutely lovely, no English spoken but we managed with Translation on our phones... Typical Spanish village, church very close with a bell that goes off a lot on the hour, so if you can't tolerate that then possibly not for you... Breakfast was minimal and not served until 9am at weekends, so our host who lives in the next village gave us some bread, Jams and butter to take to our room the night before as we had a kettle and milk... And we left early and locked up...

Walking distance to the City, silent, super friendly and helpful. We stayed twice there, start of the Montañas Vacias bikepacking tour and at the end.
