Contrary to the list of facilities on the booking.com page, the room did have air-con which was much needed as I visit during a heat wave. The host was really helpful and friendly and the room was spacious, light and airy - and the private balcony was a real bonus.

Ponte Porton is an attractive building just off the small road to Buje, set against the hillside with poplar forests to one side. We found it peaceful and quiet, despite the frequent visitors coming to eat. Nightingale song was a constant backdrop. Our charming hostess could not have been more welcoming and helpful: nothing was too much trouble. Breakfasts gave a huge choice, with hot and cold food, local hams and cheeses, and freshly-cooked pies and bruschettas. The evening menu in the restaurant included the typical Istrian pasta and meat dishes (which were delicious), plus a vegan/coeliac menu: vegetarians can’t do too well in Croatia, so they will be pleased to stay here!

The bedroom was spacious, all fabrics new and tasteful. High level of cleanliness. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We were stopping en route to Pula. We walked a bit of the local cycle/walking path which had great views and was peaceful. The restaurant adjacent to the hotel was by far the best meal we had in Croatia. A very high level of cooking skills. As a vegetarian there was enough for me to choose from. My meat eating partner has not stopped talking about his fish starter.
