We didn't meet Michelle, but felt very well her touch on everything. She took care about the smallest details, and in her absence she made her best to give us the feeling that she is there. The accommodation was spacious, clean, cosy and very quiet. We enjoyed our stay in The Gables and recommend it to travellers who are visiting Tongariro National Park and the area.

Private and tucked away off the main road, with a stunning outlook back to the mountains. Fabulous host on the night, Sukhi cooked one of the best curries we've had in a long time. We made a good choice to have him cook rather than drive back to Ohakune in search of a meal. Arrangements, advices, payments all made with the minimum of fuss - thanks and hope to visit again in the months ahead.

Such a cosy lodge, the perfect spot to relax after a long day tramping/skiing/exploring the national park. I've been travelling and staying in hostels for the past few months and so decided to treat myself to a private room at the Alpine Lodge and I was so glad I did...the beds are made with a fleece mattress cover, sheets and pillow slips and this made for one of the comfiest nights sleep of my life - I never wanted to get out of bed! Decor is a little dated but this really led to me feeling more cosy and at home. The kitchen is huge and really well kitted out and clean. All facilities are clean and functional and the little shop adjoining the lodge is great for food bits. Thanks to the lovely staff for making my stay at the NP so memorable!

Andre and Sonja are great hosts! They welcomed us into their home and tried to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We had our own bedroom + bathroom. In addition to that we could use their kitchen & cook meals. Because the weather wasn't good enough for the Alpine Crossing, they were so kind and suggested suitable alternative walks in the area. Thanks a lot! We really enjoyed our stay with you! :-)

great hostel, great affordable options for a private room, 20 mins from the Tongariro Crossing which is why I was staying. It had great facilities, plenty of bathrooms, a clean hot shower and the kitchen was well stocked and not too busy which I really appreciate in a hostel.
