We can’t say good night good things about Anna-Marie and this charming bed-and-breakfast. The amenities and all the extra touches that she puts into your stay shows how much she loves being a hostess for people traveling through New Zealand. Everything was superb! From the linens, to the bathroom, to the food including homemade scones, to the stunning view of Thames, the little sheep right beside us—the list could go on and on.

Set in Thames, Sunset Motel features barbecue facilities and a garden. All rooms feature a flat-screen TV with cable channels and a private bathroom.

The lovely manager of the property made everything relaxed and easy, including our unplanned late arrival around 2am. The property is a NZ motel, which means it is a type of unit with its own kitchen, and an informal personality that is quite unlike chain hotels. The location right on the beach with views across the water and up the coast feels like a place far away from city life. The beach is rocky, and not really suitable for swimming (unless perhaps with rubber aqua footwear) but good for strolling with a mug of coffee, fossicking for driftwood and shells. The unit was warm with the heating on and the excellent beds have electric blankets as well.

Overlooking Thames and featuring beautiful sea views, Grafton Cottage and Chalets offers private chalets. Facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, hot tub and BBQ.

Great place, very convenient. Host is very friendly and helpful. Can definitely recommend! The view from the room was amazing, sad we didn't stay there longer.

I like how is close to the beach, fishing spot, and neighbors are very welcoming, feel like we haven't left home, the shower is amazing, cute cozy home, and we're allowed to pick some fruit from the fruit tree 😊( persimmon) just right home for my little family 😊
