We absolutely loved this place! A wonderfully converted, absolutely beautiful old stone house with a stunning garden full of flowers, vegetables, fruit and lovely little lizards basking in the sun. High up on a hill, it has the most amazing views out over the ocean. It's perfectly situated, only around 20 minutes from Funchal but feels completely in the countryside, and it's a great place to be able to explore all over the island. The 'suite' itself had a little lounge and bathroom downstairs and two rooms upstairs (one with a double bed and one with two singles)...both with the same magic views over the sea. The separate kitchen was really well kitted-out with everything you need. Although apparently a shared kitchen, we were the only ones there at the time. As will be the case with some other places in Madeira, you couldn't park right next to the house, but there was parking a couple of minutes walk away down the hill. Access to the house is up a few steps and along a path. The staircase inside the house was also narrow and quite steep. None of this was a problem for us at all and I only mention this because it might be less suitable for someone with mobility issues. But for us, it was perfect and the walk along the path only added to the charm and the peace and quiet - it's a hidden, quiet gem! Also, if you step out of the garden gate and turn left down the path in the other direction, you reach one of Madeira's many beautiful Levada's (irrigation channels with accompanying foot paths) that wends its way up the valley, through flowers, a rock tunnel and along steep hillsides to a village. Stunning. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Thanks for having us to stay!

I had a truly memorable stay at Quinta das Malvas – Quinta de Santa Luzia in Funchal. The villa is absolutely beautiful, surrounded by a blooming garden that adds to the peaceful and charming atmosphere. The location is also excellent – quiet, yet within easy reach of the city center. What made the stay extra special was the wonderful host, Margarida. She was warm, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything I needed. And her pastéis de nata...😋 It was a perfect blend of comfort, nature, and genuine hospitality. I’d love to return one day and can only recommend this place to anyone visiting Madeira.

The place is close to the beach and central streets with restaurants. Also there is not far a supermarket. Breakfast includes different options - eggs, sandwiches, tomatoes, cereal, yogurt, banana, oranges, croissants, cakes, tea, coffee, orange juice - you will not go hungry and can take away something for a trip. Administration is very kind and attentive. The room was cleaned, towels were changed every day. The view from the room is wonderful. And in front of the appartaments you can find big hotel, where you can order excursions, and you'll pick up from that place, it's nor necessary to go to Funshal
