"An oasis of serenity" The view of the Atlantic Ocean at sunset. The sound of the waves splashing on the sandy beach as you sleep into the night. The peaceful sound of nature that whispers into your ears in the morning reassuring your mind and soul of a brand new day full of life, hope and peace. The pelican filled island of Sanghomar and the mangroves of Javier. The nice ice cold drinking water at one of the stores in this village, not to mention the two 'made to be' cold codys beer I never expected but had in the island. The warm reception at a rest hole by an artistic local soul. The dive in the Atlantic from this island. A 13,000 cfa per kg of fresh sea lobsters for dinner. Plus a 1000 cfa large squid, it was the best deal.

We loved our stay in Mar Lodje and we were looking for a very cozy and local atmosphere. One of the reasons that I booked were the lovely reviews about the food and I could not have chosen a better place. Breakfast was very basic like the other places we stayed in Senegal (we usually buy fruits to add in our meals) but lunch and dinner were yummy yummy. I loved the small charming details during each meal. Muito obrigada!!! Highly recommend that you do the tour with the local guide - it was nice to know the history and traditions of Mar Lodje. We missed the service of the Catholic Church on Sunday but if you can book your stay to be there - looks amazing!

Lovely new place in the middle of nowhere but in plain nature. You open the back door into the mangrove woods and water, cross the street and touch the wild Atlantic. Fantastic tours can be booked directly and simple at the Lodge. As there are no real facilities around like bigger shops or restaurants we got served perfect breakfast and meals by the nice lady running the house. No car, take a piroge or a caleche or a driver. The pool is marvellous, the AC is working, wifi leaking but everything else is worth going there.

The property features two beautiful swimming pools, perfect for a refreshing dip or lounging in the sun. There’s also a spacious and tranquil area to relax, whether you're reading a book, sipping a drink, or simply soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. The hospitality is next level. Laurette served up a three-course luxury dinner that was simply divine. Christophe prepared the best breakfast I’ve had anywhere in Africa. The rooms are spotless, with tasteful decor and thoughtful touches throughout. Everything is maintained to the highest standard, reflecting a clear passion for hospitality. Villa Kounzo also helps you make the most of your time—they recommend great daytime activities and are happy to order excellent takeaway meals from nearby restaurants if you're staying in for the evening. The on-site bar is another highlight, offering cold, reasonably priced drinks including soft drinks, beer, and wine—a perfect way to wind down after a day of exploring. Villa Kounzo is far more than just a place to stay—it’s a haven of comfort, great food, and genuine hospitality where you feel like home. I left feeling completely recharged and already planning my return. Highly recommended!
