Built in 1430, it has been wonderfully renovated. Trudy speaks with a slight Pennsylvania accent, in other words, English can be the language of communication. We were near tram lines, restaurants and coffee shops. Use Trudi’s instructions; Google assumes pedestrians want to walk past interesting shops rather than getting there directly with luggage.

Bathroom is across the hall but just for us (no one else shared with us). The kitchen was perfect with many kinds of coffee to choose from. The refrigerator was stocked with all sorts of items to enjoy for breakfast.

Set in the historic pedestrian area of Winterthur, the EMMA Bett und Bistro is housed in a stylishly renovated 16th-century town house. I stayed in the garden room which was quite simple but lovely, with private access to a beautiful green garden with several places to sit. Though the B&B is in the middle of the old town, the room was blissfully quiet, even when the garden doors and windows were open. Room had a small fridge, kettle with tea/coffee, and plates and cutlery for 2, plus a small table and 2 chairs - so one could easily bring in food and be able to eat in comfort. The staff were super-friendly and helpful, and I'd definitely stay again if the opportunity arises. BTW, the cheesecake in their cafe is heavenly!

The owner of this establishment was most helpful to me. Fantastic rural location yet close to the main town. Good restaurant, sadly no breakfast available. Definitely can recommend this place.
