The family that owns and runs this hostel are a treasure! The breakfast is modest but still good. They are obsessive about cleaning, so the place is always perfectly spotless. It's very excellently priced, and they have a nice, large outdoor, ground-level terrace in the front with excellent rain covering even during the hardest storms. I work remotely, so I really look forward to a dedicated working area, which they have! They have a little office area in the back of the hostel with a desk, a nice background, and good lighting (for those of us that need to be on video calls).

I arrived to a lovely fire and within a few minutes of arriving had a meal ready for me. Breakfast was a huge meal and prices for the lunch is really good. It was such a nice place with beautiful view, so quiet and peaceful and right next to the start of the quilotoa loop trek.

I would definitely stay here again!"

With Ruta de los volcanos we really found a hidden gem! Darwin was an excellent host and is really talented. First and foremost he is an exceptional chef and prepared the best dinner for us that we had an our entire trip in Ecuador. We expected very simple food as the place is very remote but learned that he is known for his great cuisine in the entire area! And on top of that he was so helpful with the planning for our hiking. We went on a very tough hiking trip up to the peak of Rumiñahui and Darwin showed us the route on the map with a lot of patience. For Cotopaxi he organized a guide including transport and for both days we got an excellent lunch box provided. All came at a reasonable cost. There is free drinking water which you can fill your bottles with and all requests we had were fulfilled with care and joy. We almost felt like part of the family. Our room had an excellent view and the location is really ideal for hiking or any other activity around and on the volcanos. The fire in the evening was so cozy to relax and recover from a day in the mountains. We highly recommend Ruta de Los Volcanos and would certainly stay here again if we were back in the area! Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Great location, really central. Roughly 45 mins - 1 hour drive from the airport. Nice rooftop, also about 5 minute walk to the Basilica. Stayed in the galapagos room - really comfortable.
