Our three-night stay at Matraville Homestay was a very welcome change-of-pace after jungle treks and volcano hikes in Bukit Lawang and Berestagi. Our unit was VERY large (it would have easily suited a family of four) and well-appointed with a TV, fridge, sink and kettle for use. It was also spread over two levels, with the downstairs serving as the entrance/living room area/kitchenette, and the bedroom and bathroom/separate shower area upstairs. BONUS(ES): the unit entrance featured a little patio with a table and chair where you could have an early-morning coffee or tea while facing the sunrise; the upstairs level also provided a small balcony area to take in the morning sun or evening dusk. While the room we chose was across the street from the water (a 90-second walk at most, down a couple of shallow flights of steps, and therefore didn’t provide a direct waterfront view), there are two rooms available in another portion of the property that face the water and are just steps from it. Our excellent Host, Dimmer, picked us up from the Tuk Tuk ferry landing (and can also drop you off when you depart) and will provide you with everything you might need to make your stay comfortable, including tips on places to eat or have coffee nearby and suggestions for what to do/see on Samosir Island. He will also provide scooters for daily/multi-day use for very reasonable rates.

Mila Homestay situa-se em Padang, a 10 km de Siti Nurbaya Bridge, e dispõe de acomodações com ar condicionado e acesso Wi-Fi gratuito, assim como acesso a um terraço. Everything... Ms Dila hospitality is beyond expectation. Really Happy with my stay here. Thank you for the breakfast (she ensure us to get breakfast even we checkout early morning) and your great hospitality.

A equipe da pousada é excelente, fizemos o tour de 3 dias e 2 noites com eles, e tivemos os melhores guias, Iwan e Rahmat. Uma das melhores experiências que tive, recomendo totalmente, e ideal estar na pousada principalmente o dia anterior ao início da trilha. O wifi funciona muito bem.

Seagate Bungalows are very new, located right by the water with beautiful views. Exceptional bathrooms and room facilities. The hosts (Borja and Yuyun) with their staff are very hands-on with any requests and queries, etc. They even arranged for snorkelling, dolphin watching trip and transport etc. The on-site restaurant serves good food and good service. Would definitely come and stay again, and recommend to friends and family.

Sumatra Cheeky Monkeys tem um jardim, salão partilhado, um terraço e restaurante em Bukit Lawang. As comodidades deste alojamento incluem um bar e comodidades para churrascos. I did the 2 day/1 night Trek. The 2 guides Rian and Santa were the best guides I’ve encountered anywhere in all my years of traveling. They were so kind, funny and thoughtful. The food on the trek was phenomenal and it really was a wonderful experience. The property is great, with a beautiful lush green garden.

Batu Kapal Guest House & Jungle trekking tem um jardim, terraço, um restaurante e bar em Bukit Lawang. O alojamento apresenta serviço de quartos, uma receção aberta 24 horas e câmbio de moeda. Staff is amazing, food is great and also the location which is deeper in the jungle. Only accessible by motorbike, but the staff is super flexible and take you up and down to the town whenever you want (not needed and not expected but we tipped them a bit every time). We saw so many orangutans with them! Even when taking the trip to the batcave, but I think we were lucky. Would definitely recommend Batu Kapal!

The accommodation is in a wonderful location, on the edge of the village where it’s quieter, yet still just a ten-minute walk to the center. Beautiful views of the river and the jungle beyond, where macaques roam and even an orangutan made an appearance. The macaques occasionally ran across our roof and balcony — the kids were thrilled. We went on several treks with guides from this accommodation, and all of them were amazing. We saw 12 orangutans of all sizes, macaques, Thomas leaf monkeys, turtles, and even hornbills. For those interested in more unusual animals, I highly recommend the evening snake walk — it was simply incredible. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. We’re glad we chose Obiwan’s Indra Valley Inn for our stay in Bukit Lawang.
