I even got lucky and hitched a ride back to Nakatsugawa, with a perfect pitstop at Hillbilly Coffee (highly recommend). I stayed here after walking Nakasendo Trail from Tsumago. We enjoyed the onsen with wonderful mountain and sea views as well as an ice cream gift after bathing! The host allowed us to drop off our luggae early which freed us to stroll around the temple nearby and the rest of Atami, all of the host’s recommendations! My friends and I used the common area often as it was filled with natural light and windows across the entire span of the room. The sunrise and sunset were beautiful and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect stay!

The units in the guest house are equipped with a flat-screen TV. There is a private bathroom with bidet in some units, along with slippers, a hair dryer and free toiletries. The units are equipped with heating facilities. Hosts were very accommodating despite speaking little English and my limited Japanese. Translation app overcame that barrier. A stocked fridge and comprehensive facilities made my stay very enjoyable. I was able to cook a simple meal, and do some laundry without having to leave the guesthouse in the heavy snow! The cherry on top was the owner driving me to the dinosaur museum in the morning. Very unexpected but much appreciated.
