In the shared lounge, you can enjoy Japanese cultural experiences like calligraphy and origami, and meet people from all over the world. We love the Miyajima guest house, the staff was super friendly, the location was great, the common areas were beautiful! We also really enjoyed the dinner and breakfast. Overall the only negative was that we only stayed one night, would love to come back and stay at least two nights in the future. ❤️

We booked two rooms for our family of four. We were pleasantly surprised how spacious they were, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. The host was incredibly kind, he suggested the best places to eat and buy locally produced lemon pastries, and when we were leaving, he brought his cat, Tiger, and waved goodbye to us. As we were on a three-day bike trip and only had our small backpacks with us, we loved the fact that everything was provided: shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, tooth brushes, toothpaste, mouth wash, etc. In each room there were even a couple of bottles of water and everything for making tea and coffee. In the common spaces there was a microwave, guidebooks, manga books, and a wall full of Toso Maps of the Shimanami Kaido trail. We will definitely book Bed&Cafe Onzo again next time we bike the Shimanami Kaido!

All units in the guest house are fitted with a kettle. There is a private bathroom with shower in every unit, along with slippers, a hair dryer and free toiletries. The units are equipped with heating facilities. The landlord is extremely kind. When I moved in, he gave me a detailed introduction on how to use the room. There's a clean kitchen, a living room with a TV, and a huge bedroom—it's fantastic! The landlord even lent me a bicycle, allowing me to explore the Yokai City in Sakaiminato freely! What's more amazing is that the landlord is actually from New Zealand! When he learned my name is Kiwi, he looked astonished. When I showed him my kiwi bird profile picture, we high-fived excitedly! What a wonderful coincidence! He kept showing me the New Zealand elements in the house, and there were really many!

This was overall our favorite experience in Japan (among Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and Hakuei). The hosts were very hospitable. Once we arrived, they helped us plan the itinerary, recommended places for dinner, held a tea party, and also helped us book a restaurant that needed reservation. On our way back, they also drove us to a further train station, with a few short stops for additional sight-seeing. The room we stayed in was spacious and comfortable, and we could adjust the temperature with air-conditioning. The room felt very traditional (which was great). We slept on Tatami mat. The town itself was also very nice. The Detective Conan (case closed) part of town was very exciting, but even after the museum and themed restaurant/shops closed, the rest of the town was still very charming. We enjoyed walking around and taking in the beautiful scenery at night. In terms of getting to the town, we actually didn’t purchase the train tickets until one day before traveling. We asked our previous hotel and train station information to help us get the tickets, and there was no problem traveling to the town.

He found me a multi-tool to tighten my bike saddle post and also helped me ship luggage last minute. The property is thoughtfully renovated equipped with rooms with comfy bunk-bed set ups and comfortably-large shared bathroom, kitchen, and living areas.
