I think the host must have been a traveller himself, as there was a lot of attention given to small (but important) details such as sockets by the bedside, racks to dry towels and store your stuff, tea, water, toiletries and some tasteful decorations that really made this place feel more like home rather than just a "place to stay". (Ps - none of these are a given everywhere in Sri Lanka). The host was also kind enough to let us stay past the checkout time, as one of our friends wasn't feeling well. Overall - Excellent value for money, would have stayed longer if I could.

With sea views, this accommodation offers a balcony. There is free private parking and the property provides paid airport shuttle service. The family who own the property are incredibly kind and helpful with anything you might need while you’re in Marissa. I loved the simple designed room. They felt spacious and clean. I had to make an important video call while I was staying there and the WiFi worked perfectly. Also the rooms are sealed up so it’s pretty much impossible to get mosquitos in there unless you leave the door open.

At the bed and breakfast, units include bed linen and towels. balcony with a nice view, green surroundings, very good local breakfast, we could use the washing machine and the bikes, we could take the dog for a walk, everyone was very friendly, uncomplicated extention of our stay, the beach in Talalla is quite empty so there are not a lot of tourists there which was perfect for us, we loved our stay!

I booked this property based on a review written by a family similar to ours. And the open air bathroom. We are a family of 4 with a 5 yr old girl and 2 year old boy. We rented the large family suite and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Less then 5 mins from the beach, large comfortable double beds with mosquito nets, a shared kitchenette, large comfortable bathroom with hot water and AC. The owners were such lovely accommodating people. The best part was the location. Hiritekiya is an Instagramy digital nomady hotspot, and Jungle Escape is located in the less developed part of the beach. So we were close to everything but in a more tranquil environment.

The Surf Lodge is beautifully decorated with a lot of love and taste. It offers amazing breakfast and a direct access to the beach. It is managed by the super kind Che who was always very attentive to help us organize a few things around the area. What we particularly loved about the hotel (apart from the amazing spacious rooms and the delicious (vegetarian) food) was that it is Che’s family home and has such a friendly and calming vibe :) it’s only a short walk to local restaurants and bars and Madiha’s main beach is also only a few minutes away. All units at the guest house are fitted with a private bathroom and bed linen. The guesthouse is located in a very peaceful and quiet place, not far from the beach and stores. The owner, Paba, was very helpful and kind! Would recommend staying here!
